First gun

Yeah maybe, although I must admit, so far I'm a terrible shot - DTL I find easier, but the fast crossers on skeet/sporting I am having trouble with. :yay:

We all started somewhere - don't get too self concious!! :hmm: Maybe save up for a few lessons now you have your gun. Going away birds are easier generally to start, fast crossers and quartering birds catch a lot of people out, even the big @uns!! Don't worry, with practice and some professional coaching, if you save for a few lessons, it'll improve, I promise!! :yp:

Yeah, I had used a friend's hatsan a few times and found it never failed me. According to the manual it's not recommended for cartridges below 24g, presumably because the manufacturer thought they might not have the power to cycle the heavy bolt spring and load the next round, but I fired a whole box of 65mm 21g carts off in quick succession once and it never missed a beat. I admit tho there is a lot of intricate engineering in a semi-auto, so it's not suprising that sometimes things will go wrong, but I imagine it's like any other machine: keep it in good nick and it should work better. :yay:

Unfortunately, I'm enjoying it too much - it's taking up all my free cash LOL. But I suppose life's there for living. :good:

Its essential with semi-autos esp gas powered ones, to keep them very clean. They get really dirty even after just 100 shots, so I keep mine absolutely clean after each outing. :drinks:

Find a cartridge you like and which the gun cycles well, and stick with it. Try 28g ProFibre sometime - you will be amazed at the lack of recoil, and most manufacturers recommend 28g for semiautos, although I find 21gHullCompX are OK in my Beretta as well. I was a bit nervous to try 28g, but can honestly say the ProFibre 28g are great with no punch on the shoulder at all!

Shooting tends to take up all one's cash.......and you'll find it won't end at one gun either :good: Hope to meet up sometime at Doveridge - PM me for details if interested. :yp:
