ThomasBown
Hi all, I'm just wondering what time of day is the best to decoy woodies on rape stubble around their roosting area's in a wood. Do they start to feed at sun rise and roost at sun down? Any replies would be appreciated
Billy.
I'll try not to be a complete hypocrite, as I'm the worst person to do my homework of my permissions, but I know that different places are hit at different times... For example, my patch will usually shoot well in the morning, be absolutely dead between 12-2 and then pick up, finally dropping off at about 4...! You will find yourself sat there bored at times when there's nothing about. Nevertheless, it might just be that you're on the wrong field. Remember what pigeons want to eat at different times of year. good luck!
Jimbo57
It does vary a lot but, if you are looking for a generalisation, I would say best time for decoying is between 6.00am and 9.00am and 4.00pm - 6.00pm at present. It will change of course as the days shorten. Jim
ThomasBown
Thanks guys. Jim I think your time zones are quite accurate for our area at the moment too.
