flexouk
Hi All, What a great site, pity I've only recently found it. I currently go pigeon shooting with a friend but it is a long way from where I live. My wife and I have just had our first child so I am now finding travelling so far a bit difficult. I am wanting to gain permission from land owners closer to home. From other people's experience what is the best way of getting this. Should I e-mail first, or phone or just turn up on their doorstep? Any help will be great. Thanks, Phil
LostWomble
The trouble with getting on pigeon around here (South Ox/West Berks/North Wilts) is the number of syndicate shoots who like to keep the pigeon as a beaters perk. Also at this time of year the keepers are letting the birds out and don't want us making a racket and getting them all unsettled. I'm fortunate enough to live on an estate where the keeper lets me go after pigeon most of the year but I am having to stop now as he gets ready to release. I have started asking around other farms/estates in the area but the story is the same. You could try approaching some keepers and offering to do some beating, and later in the season enquire if you could go out on the pigeon. Otherwise it really is a case of not giving up and keeping an eye out for fields being heavily hit then making an opportunistic visit to the estate office. Good luck, and if you find anything worth sharing in the area PM me :look:
