Ferretboy111
Hello all' Thought id take some photos of me and my ESS dogging in and trying to steady her abit more beore the season starts. My bitch is 2 1/2 years old and she is currently back on a long line as she seemed to find chasing birds fun. Dogging in with a dog on a long line is really really awkward as they end up getting tangled in rough so close eye is needed with her. First photo shows a hare ive spotted hunkered down on drilled rape. I tend to use hares and rabbits to help steady her, as we all know how dogs love chasing hares and can be as steady as anything with pheasants but when a hare gets up they just want it. Anyway it got up when my dog flushed it; straight on the stop whistle and thank god she stopped straight away. (You can just see the hare in the background) Ill add that the hares were on the way to dogging in a hedgeline, to which she did brilliantly flushing 10 or so back to the release pen. We finished that hedge and moved to another part of the farm, flushed a further few pheasants as you can see from the photos. Photos are really rather pointless, but thought id take some anyway. Plenty of water is needed for this time of year, dogging in is hot hot work for the dogs. Alex
