Cumbrian
I have been looking at what I think is probably a Feinwerkbau 300 recoil-less air rifle, no price yet attached to it. It has proper diopter sights, front and rear, and is quite well used. It suffers from damp, bad storage, so it requires a full re-bluing at the very least. I understand that the seals will probably also need replacing. What should I expect to pay as a fair price? Will the rifling be likely to have suffered or will the lead coating have preserved it even in unfavourable conditions? Grateful for any advice. As a .22 target shooter, I would use it as a practice target rifle in my garden where a rimfire is not allowed. malmick
I've got a 300SU that must be in very similar condition, I bought it as a project gun for £100. I'll carry out all the work myself, apart from re-blueing. I also intend to strip the varnish from the walnut stock and give it an oiled finish. Hope this helps. Cumbrian
Mick, Thank you very much. What you write does help me, though of course the vendor may value the rifle more than you or I would do. I'm very interested in your project. If I may - and if I do buy this rifle - I will come back to you for further advice and information, since you will be further down this particular road than I could be.
