Steve'o
In next couple weeks am getting HW97K was thinking of getting a .20 .cal have made enquires. HULL CARTRIDGE tell me they are imported as specials from germany Delivery 4 to 8 weeks. Where as i could get the .177 next day So would say; .177 BARACUDA MATCH at 10.65g or .177 BISLEY MAGNUM at 10.5g Compare to the .20 H &N FIELD & TARGET TROPHY 11.42g (got pellet weight from pellpx web site) Would the heavier .177 behave the same as the .20 pellet fired from up to 12flbs rifles? Anybody have there veiw would b welcome cheers
The Shootist
Would the heavier .177 behave the same as the .20 pellet fired from up to 12flbs rifles? Anybody have there veiw would b welcome cheers On a single example like this not too different although the .20 is still slightly heavier. But dont look at .20 on the basis of a single example but on what .20 can do accross the range in one calibre... All the way from medium / heavy .177 to light / medium .22 weights in a single gun... reefman
I had an original 45 yars ago (About 20) in .20 calibre. I loved it a good pest shooting gun I used to use H&N silouetes. I changed it for a .177 HW77K and found that flat head pellets were good for pests, others just drilled straight through. My experience with Bisley magnums in .177 in the HW was inconsistant grouping and low Ftlbs (10.5) I have used a rimmy for longer shots for years now but for close in pest control I am a strong fan of .22 airrifle and Crossman vermin pel a flat head pellet that loses all it's energy on the target. You do not specify what your type of shooting will be. The .20 is a great round but stick to quality pellets, you will then attain good groups and cosistant results. If FT is your bag it has got to be .177 and some of the better branded pellets, magnums are cheap **** in my opinion.
stupidsalmon
Go for the .20 as its a good compromise of the .22's harder hitting qualities and the .177's flatter trajectory, and also not many other people have guns in that calibre so its nice to have something i little different, SS
swiftshot
I agree with Stupidsalmon as the .20 does combine the good aspects of both .22 and .177 calibers well. I think Ben Taylor carries out conversions on rifles to change them to .20. He also has data on the claiber. B.T.A.S Henry
coupe312
on the down side lack of pellet choise in .20 lower after sale value of gun! personal i'd stick with a .177 or .22 for plicking a .177 or .22 for vermin
The Shootist
on the down sidelack of pellet choise in .20 Not so much the case nowadays. I agree there are fewer than .177 or .22 but there's still plenty of choice... must be 20 I could name off the top of my head and got at least a dozen types on .20 pellet here in my shooting box. lower after sale value of gun! I'd disagree with that too ! .20's are on the up at the moment, gaining popularity so can be even sought after and command a reasonable price. Natures_son
on the down sidelack of pellet choise in .20 lower after sale value of gun! personal i'd stick with a .177 or .22 for plinking a .177 or .22 for vermin A .177 will kill vermin just as well as a .22. Saying just to use a .177 for targets then a .22 for vermin has to be the biggest load of **** ive read on here recently.

The Shootist
Length of time this threads waffling on ... if you had ordered that .20 97k when it started ... it would be here by now ! Seriously ... there may be a short delay in getting a .20 97k but it's a cracking rifle ... cheaper than the Theoban by a good margin and very accurate as both myself and others on this forum have stated.
