  1. Hi I have a 527 223 lux.The twist rate is 1-9,I think some of the older models are 1-12,but have never seen one. Build quality is fine, they are not a premium grade rifle, but are very well made,I tend to use the set trigger all the time,The american has nicer blueing. I am very happy with my 527.I have zeroed it to 100yds can shoot a ragged hole at that range, and remove lots of vermin with it. Reefman
  2. 1200 .22lr 600 .17hmr 500 .223 soft point 100 fmj HAMPSHIRE The figures you have been given are unrealistic,complain.
  3. [sorry about the big picture I am trying to get a little one near my name and got it wrong, any pointers please
  4. Have a look at uttings.com they are mail order and very reasonable.
  5. I have had the gun for donkeys years,I think I paid £40 for it,however I was never using it,so to breath life back into it I sent it off the the saddlery and Gunroom for the conversion a couple of years ago .It cost £180,I get on well with my local rfd and he charged me £20 to send it off . I don't know how all this wieghs up against the cost of an off the shelf baikal or pedradi or whatever they are using nowadays. The only thing you need to be aware of is the Webley is chambered for 2 1/2 " cartridges. Subsonic are only availabe in 3". It is still a dam sight quieter with 2 1/2 Eley's and gets used for rat busting duty near our chicken sheds. The gun feels pretty balanced with the full lenghth conversion ,I can hit anything I aim at within 25m. Don't waste your time with the shorter end can that hushpower sell for the 410.Although it is cheaper and pretty quiet it feels like a dustbin on the end of the barrel.I bought one over 20 years ago and sold it pretty dam quick. I hope this helps. Reefman I have attached a picture of the Webley for you to see what it looks like. The others from top to bottom if you are interested are CZ 452 American .17hmr CZ 527 lux .223, BRNO 581 .22 rf, 12g side lock sbs BRNO. and the Webley. Reefman
  6. I have a webley and scott .410 bolt action which has a full hushpower conversion.I only use it once or twice a year but it's a good bit of kit. Reefman
  7. Buy a new XL from Uttings mail order,I bought a .22 from them a couple of years back.Well worth the extra money for the nicer trigger and styling. The Rats near my chicken run hate it. Reefman
  8. leupold VX 2 3-9 x40 very clear and simple to use.
  9. Contrary to popular belief TASCO have never actualy made a scope, the jap stuff was made by HAKO or Optical Lighthouse and branded TASO.Both excellent scope manafactures of high quality stuff. I had a 2.75 x 40 parralax adjustable one purchased new in 1984 and it was excellent I kept it for over 20 years. However TASCO were financial F&*k Wi&s and have gone bust and been resurected more times than I can remember So in a nut shell Jap stuff from the 80's GOOD Chinese stuff from then on old POO Cheap end BUSHNELL is also old poo and made in same **** chinease sweatshop. If you want a new cheap scope go AGS.Not perfect but it works.
  10. AGS and Hawke both cheap and cheerfull and made in china.Foggy round the edges but hold a zero. I would say they are the best of the budget scopes .I had an AGS 3-9x40 on an BSA Lightning xl,came as part of the deal.It held it's zero but was irritatingly foggy round the edges. I also had a hawke 4x42 ir on a rimmie did not like it at all, although it did hold it's zero ok. I'm sure someone can answer this but I bet they are probably made in the same factory just badged differently.
  11. Best bet is to try a few first . I have .22lr/.17hmr and .223 when I applied for the variation for the cf. Hants firearms officer was fantastic, very helpfull and visited my land personally to check it out.Even suggesting that rather than get .243 for fox and deer keep the 223 for fox and get a bigger one if I want to shoot deer. Even better after having the 223 for 9 months on a licensed land only condition they changed it to an open ticket no problem whatsoever. Apply for what you want and not what you think they will give you.You can then barter with them if needs be. Good Luck Reefman
  12. I think it is a step in the right direction .243 is ok on some of the farms I shoot on but not on my own land where I have problems with Roe damaging trees However .223 is ok.(I have an open ticket any way) For me this means all I have to do is get a variation for Roe deer get my friend who is an experienced stalker to come out with me a couple of times and bingo it's sorted. DEFRA claim there is clear evidence that stalking/Deer control of Roe deer is not being carried out because of the hastle of the correct rifle etc putting off keepers or other low income agricultural workers from forking out the best part of £1000 for a modest moderated set up.When they already posses one for fox control. My understanding of the change is perhaps less cynical, the changes have been drafted with people like myself a landowner, keepers and farmers in mind. Why do we need two guns for roe and fox,(Pests). I already have .22 rf for lamping bunnies and rats,.17hmr for day light bunnies and crows and .223 for fox and soon to be Roe deer. You guys who shoot the bigger deer have little to fear,we are only falling in line with Scotish law,I havn't seen them all loose their big rifles. Also I bet most of the members of the house of Lords go deer stalking so they will not spite themselves. As for wether or not .22 cf is humane, well that has already been decided by the "clever "people in government. The test will be when we have idiots taking unrealistic and innapropriate shots.
  13. I am looking for a .22 semi-auto either a CZ 511 or an Anschutz nothing else ,I have a space on my ticket and would like a deal local to hampshire please. Thanks ,Reefman
  14. In the Meon Valley in Hampshire you are looking at £15-20,000 per acre easily (Agricultural Land) My neighbour has just sold 1.7 acres for £55,000.
