caplock
Hi all, Have just knocked up a batch of black powder loads using Magtech 12 bore brass. These use a large pistol type primers and are reusable time and time again. Tried in the past with plastic cases but they kept melting and sticking!! This load is an equal volume one of 85 grains pyrodex RS and the same volume measure of number 8 shot. I'm thinking a round of skeet at the weekend is in order. The brass was bought to keep a couple of old hammer guns in use that are black powder proof only without having to pay through the nose and buy shop bought carts that only come in shot size 6, that is when they are available. This way I can knock up a load to suit from 9's to BB. Fire in the hold!!!! I'll post on how they perform

caplock
About a tenner a box, available through Viking arms to your local gunshop only. There are two types, large pistol or berdan primer. If you are going to get some I'd recommed the pistol type as these can be 'knocked' in rather than using a berdan press and resizer. Cheers
Poacher
is the top card wadding sufficient to keep everything in when tipped up ?? or do you have to be super careful
caplock
Have a squint here, hopefully http://site.mawebcenters.com/lolosportingg...gtechbrass.html A bit over the top as far as equipment used is concerned but it gives you the outline of whats involved. The overshot card is held in place with a dab of wood glue. This is the way shot shells were reloaded before the advent of the paper case and also have the advantage of being reusable many times over.
