fieldwanderer
well, there's been a lot of talk of long range shots lately so I'll share todays longest; I'm lucky in that I'm an agency worker and am getting very little work lately which means I'm shooting most days This fat bunny took a .22lr to the brain (cci velocitor) at 150yds, I do this quite regularly and am comfortable doing so. I got to the farm at about 1:30pm and took a wander (hence the name). I don't see much nowerdays, even when lamping, because I spend so much time picking bunnies off they're pretty rare on my permission now Still, it's better than sitting at home waiting for a phonecall. I rounded a corner to spot it nibbling the grass, it saw me too but carried on and kept an eye on me, I could see there wasn't much hope of getting much closer without spooking it - you know the edgy look about them just before they dart off never to be seen again! I slowly knelt down next to a gatepost and extended the bi-pod's legs. I put myself in a comfortable prone position and turned the scope all the way to 24X mag and used it's range finder thingy - 150yds. I dialed that in on the scope's turret and gave two clicks to the right for the light breeze. By now the rabbit was getting really twitchy and was sat upright looking around. The crosshairs were just behind it's eye and slightly above when I heard the sonic crack go and instead of a head, all I could see were four legs kicking the air The bullet struck exactly where I asked it to and by the looks of things kept going! But there was a healthy backstop so no worries The scope's range finder thingy: May end up going back out after tea but I'll see what the weather does first

dpile1
Hi chaps, Brand new on here so hi to everyone. I had my longest ranged shot last night. I've got a 22-250 Howa 1500 and took a bunny out with a headshot at 313 yrds. It was a perfect evening for shooting, great visibility and hardly any wind. dpile1

Strangely, the Irish called my rifle coach yoda (I shot with the national rifle squad for two years and he's a midget - and truly the yoda of target rifle sooting)
