I know it’s war (or a Special Military Operation if you will 🙂) but if half the stories about what the Russians have done to the civilian population of Ukraine and on Ukrainian soil are true then they have earned the label ‘Orc’.

Agree with much of what you wrote elsewhere, hence just quoting this bit. You are right about war crimes and I'm certainly not an apologist for the war or Putin. But I think it is very dangerous to dehumanise anyone, let alone a nation.

It is tempting to see it as good vs evil, black and white, but war is murky and bad things happen in it. Even for highly trained and professional armies like our own, and it's safe to say the Ukrainians and Russians both fall a long way short of our standards. Our press is partisan, and like Nordstream certain things are kept a little quiet.

As an aside, don't know if you've watched black mirror, but try men against fire. Absolutely not saying it's the same, but I never really understood how people can so apparently willingly do awful things. And it starts with words.

  2. I think a few of the theories going around that are more believable, is that some of these stories that seem big but aren't really, such as the 'spy balloons' and the crashed drone, are that they come out with big attention to distract from other events. Great cover for getting some bad news out of the way, all politicians do it. Unfortunately if that was the case, it hasn't really worked and the bank runs have begun.

Whilst on media reporting... on the other hand it's very revealing how little light has been shone on the blowing up of Nordstream. I don't know who did it but bearing in mind the climate if it was Russia (and it makes little sense for them to blow up their own pipeline that they could turn it on/off at will) I think it would have been comprehensively revealed with considerable speed. So got to think balance probabilities it's the West, which is a pretty outrageous act, hence the hush hush.

Find it very disappointing no one seriously talking about a route for peace. And I also find it concerning on social the dehumanisation of Russians. The sort of language used, 'orcs', harks back to the previous world wars, and is extremely disturbing. I think all sides need to eat an unpalatable sandwich, but there seems little will whilst each thinks they can win, and so thousands more will die. That's depressing. Sorry derailed a bit from OP.

  3. Paul is a different company (nice guy though).

UKSW used to advertise here and ran a discount for PW members for several years, I'm not sure they still do.  Give them a call, and if Kelda is still there I'm sure she will help you if she can. The code used to the Flapper, let me know if it still works?

  4. Not really, it is one of the reasons we developed Gun Watch, but unfortunately a combination of the payment processor refusing to work with us, and the software needing an extensive upgrade it has been depreciated. It's not ideal, but selling on Pigeon Watch is a free service, so unfortunately going to be have to something put up with :/

  5. The warning has been put there so members who may not have been aware of the rules in Wales are now aware, and will not be breaking the law by using one. They are legal in England, and Scotland.

Closing this topic now. Good luck with the sale, thanks.

  6. Still can't believe @Beardois gone. His funeral was today, and he was aged just 51. His wife has set-up a JustGiving page, and I thought I would pop the link on here just in case anyone would like to make a donation: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/nick-frewin I know he had a lot of friends on here, virtually and in person.

There is also a link to his funeral service I'll pop below, when his Mum does a reading it brings tears. Only 51 years old. He was just such a great guy, would always help and his professionalism was second to none. But he knew how to have a good time, and I enjoyed sharing several drinks with him over the years at the Charity Shoots and outside of. He played a huge roll at the Charity Shoots, and gave us our banner. In fact for those that haven't met him, there's a snap of him here in a familiar cheeky pose at the shoot front centre. The resolution isn't great, but he looks much like his avatar. A huge character and a great guy. Going to miss you @Beardo.

  7. Just like to thank Shaun for all his input and help over the years. Been a really good guy, as indeed have Dunkield, Cranfield and Zapp and more recently Wymberley. All have put in a lot of time and energy to help run the site, and make it a good place to visit. Deserve all the praise here, place would not be what it is without them. Very grateful for the current mods who are keeping the watch.

3 replies hes done me as well last night,£30

Definitely a scammer -banned by welsh1 above, and username changed to warn anyone opening a msg from them. What was the scam - did you send them money via PayPal gift or something? It does specifically say not to...

The full forum does not load for me anymore! I used to be able to scroll from Welcome to PW right down to Food and Drink.

    It now gives me the option of choosing one of three forums;

    Pigeon Watch Community

    Pigeon Shooting

    Country Sports

So those are the categories - on the right hand side of each of those you can click an arrow that'll toggle down - so you see all the forums within that category. You may have already figured it out, but hope that helps!

  10. So... "They are fabulous just put a dry rub on and leave for a few hours and then cook like you would in the oven we’ve got a big Webber with a lid on but we’ve also cooked it over open logs !!

I used a fajita rub last time it was fabulous and I used a meat thermometer and resting for about 45 mins !!! It was still pink and very moist.."

Surprised me I thought would be a longer marinade or some foil..

Please add me to your October list 🙏

    Many thanks- will do!

Thanks mungler and dbarnard! Hope you enjoy your boxes, spoke to two on my local deliveries and both bbq-ed the legs, I've only ever done the rack and chops. One butterflies the leg which is a great idea, but I think the other does it bone in, will have to give it a try! 🙂

  12. Thanks guys!! These went really quickly sorry to those who didn't get one, I only had three available. Only just in from doing the drops, big delivery day! Will have some more in October and will definitely message those who missed out this time, honestly thanks for all the support means a lot!! Best wishes, will

  13. With the temperatures at the moment was hoping to just do local deliveries, but I have three not sold, could put them in the freezer but just thought I'd reach out in case anyone in the market for one delivered tomorrow (parcelforce)

They are our rare breed barbados blackbellies. Ideally I am selling whole boxes which will weigh minimum 12kg fully butchered and vacuum packed. They are £145 including 24hr delivery to England&Wales, or £125 if I can deliver myself more locally (West Wiltshire/Bath area).

    Cut spec is:

    Whole legs bone in x2

Two Half shoulders bone in x2

Mince (from the breast likely 1.5-2kg)

    Loin chops

    Rack french trimmed x2.

Because this batch are a bit smaller to make up weight will include some extra cuts as appropriate. Sold a lot through PW over recent years, and have a few to shift this time. The meat is delivered chilled in insulated packaging having not been frozen.

Thanks sorry for lack of notice, any orders will need to be in by about 2pm as I've got to take to parcelforce depot in good time ,👍
