  1. CALLING ALL LANDOWNERS/FARMERS/TENANTS Are you experiencing problems with rabbits? Well you may be overrun with the little critters to the point of tripping over them, but have no fear, Millsy`s here All you have to do is to allow me to drive onto your land & take my air rifle out of it`s case IT`S AS SIMPLE AS THAT! I can guarantee from that very point, you wont see a damn rabbit for miles!!! What a wonderful service I hear you cry, BUT THERES MORE! This service is totally lead free, so its good for the environment as well! (guess who`s had a lousy weekend`s shooting)
  2. Well done on the purchase. You`ll have some fun with that . What did you decide to do about recharging ?
  3. Hi there, I'm pretty much sure I want this gun now Stirrup pumps arn't cheap , on the farm we have a rather large air compressor.. do people ever use these to pressure the tanks up? I`m pretty sure using a compressor is a no no. Check with your local gun shop mate, or maybe someone on here can offer advice? From one fill. I`m getting about 10 mags out, so thats around 140 shots firing at approx 11.2 fps. .177`s will get less than this, but for rough shooting thats quite a few bunnies/pigeons/rats. The other thing I`m not sure is if you can fit the stock easily, (you being left handed). Best way to find out is to go on the targets for a while & see how you get on.
  4. Hi John, I`ve got the .22 version & chuffed to bits with it. Heavy thing, but normally very reliable, accurate & consistant. Your going to need an air bottle to go with it(if you buy it), or have a shop handy that can fill it. You wont go far wrong I reckon. Hope this helps Millsy
  5. The price for the package sounds a good deal to me mate & if you like the feel of the gun, then you`ve answered your own question. I`ve got the Venom Viper, & if its anything like that to handle, then you aint going to go far wrong

    hw100

Morning laf, Sounds a good price for gun/scope/bipod. Which hw100 is it? I think at that price it will be the Mk1. That one has the fixed moderator which isn`t as quiet as the Mk2. Good solid kit though. Never used the Bisley`s. I use Air Arms Field through mine with good results. No other reason than personal preference. Had mine for about 18 months & recently had to send it back to importers as it started to exceed 12ft/lbs! Dont know if this is a common fault. Anyone out there got any info on this? Apart from this one problem, I am very pleased with it. Hope this helps Millsy

    Liquorice

Yup! he went up with all his gear. Would love to have seen it Was told that at the bend of the river there was loads of fish I can only imagine the looks on the ramblers faces as he lugged his kit up the hill Dont think he went back in his local for a few weeks. Derrrrrrr

    Liquorice

I`ve heard a couple of times, (once on the radio), that rabbits love liquorice. Anyone know or have heard anything to confirm this, or is it a wind up? I`m happy to spread a few Dolly Mixtures around if it helps Who knows, I could end up shooting allsorts (sorry, couldn`t resist that one) If its a wind up, its nearly as good as when a mate of mine asked someone where was a great place to fish, & he got sent up Bredon Hill. (any lads from around here will like that one) Millsy

    HW100S

Yes I have noticed a significant drop in pressure,(on the dial), on cold mornings. Never noticed a drop in performance though

    HW100S

Ran a Chrono check on my HW100 last week & was suprised to see readings exceeding 12ft/lbs. Took it back to the gunshop where I bought it & they checked & confirmed it was firing up to 12.8ft/lbs with Acupells & 12.2ft/lbs with my favourite Air Arms Field. They also said there was a wide variation in fps? between each shot. Gun now gone back to importers for adjustment. Last time I checked, it was firing at an average of 11.4ft/lbs so its gone up on its own! Good job I invested in a chrono I reckon. Last few weeks I`ve been missing some very easy shots but just put it down to me. Invested in 2 sizes of Harris Bipods but even on targets I was disappointed with my groupings. Got to the point that I thought maybe I should give it a rest! Any road up, I took my old Venom Viper out Saturday night for an hour, & with 2 shots I took 2 Rabbits so a bit of confidence restored. Just thought I`d share that lot with you :o Regards Millsy
  12. Bought one 2nd hand about 2 years ago and reckon its a nice bit of kit. This was my first pcp. Shooting wise, its very comfortable to use, & I get consistant grouping with it. I charge it to 200lb,(thats what I was told to do anyway), & reckon on about 70-80 shots per charge. You could possibly get more, but I`ve got this phobia about getting one stuck up the spout :yp: Mine is a two shot bolt action,(dont know if there`s a single shot version), which can be a bit fiddly to load until you get used to it. Bit of a swine in winter though, when your in the fields & your hands are freezing One point to watch.........There is a metal sleeve that goes over the barrel & is attached to the gun by means of a grub screw & rubber washer situated right at the top of the probe access point. If the washer has gone missing, the grubscrew has a tendency to work loose over a period of time, resulting in the cover (and moderator) working loose & coming away from the gun! Common fault apparently. Should this happen, the grubscrew will be sitting on the inside of the dustcap of the probe filler point! If your not aware of this, you could pull the dustcap off & the grubscrew will drop out possibly never to be found again! Can you guess how I know this ? Just keep an eye on it Apart from those little niggles, I like the gun & wouldn`t part with it & even though I upgraded to the hw100s, I still like to take out the Webley from time to time. Gone on a bit there but hope it helps Millsy

    Rabbits

I probably should know this but I dont, so hopefully one of you can put me right. From time to time, I find the fatty layer on a rabbit is a strong yellow colour instead of the normal white. Why is this, and is the meat ok to eat?. Everything else looks ok, ie eyes/ liver/kidneys etc, but I have tended to discard the rabbits when I find this colouring. Cheers Millsy
