  1. :hmm: to PW

Sound advice from Billett; avoid rushing out and buying a gun straight off. Ask around the club you shoot at and try out as many guns as you can. When it comes to buying one, gun fit is all important. If it don't fit you it will make hitting the clays that much more difficult.

    Enjoy it ;)

  2. A pirate walks into a bar and the bartender says,

"Hey, I haven't seen you in a while. What happened, you look terrible!"

"What do you mean?" the pirate replies, "I'm fine."

    The bartender says,

"But what about that wooden leg? You didn't have that before."

"Well," says the pirate, "We were in a battle at sea and a cannon ball hit my leg but the surgeon fixed me up, and I'm fine, really."

"Yeah," says the bartender, "But what about that hook? Last time I saw you, you had both hands."

"Well," says the pirate, "We were in another battle and we boarded the enemy ship. I was in a sword fight and my hand was cut off but the surgeon fixed me up with this hook, and I feel great, really."

"Oh," says the bartender, "What about that eye patch? Last time you were in here you had both eyes."

"Well," says the pirate, "One day when we were at sea, some birds were flying over the ship. I looked up, and one of them **** in my eye."

"So?" replied the bartender, "what happened? You couldn't have lost an eye just from some bird ****!"

"Well," says the pirate, "I really wasn't used to the hook yet."

    :good:

  3. Whatever make or type you eventually decide on buying, do make sure (as has already been said above) that it fits you. If you're not sure if it fits or not, seek some expert advice to help guide you.

It's really pretty crucial to helping you hit your targets :whistling:

Good luck with your new gun.

    Enjoy it! :innocent:

  4. New on this site and at the game.

Shotgun application has been in for a couple of weeks. I’ve got the gun safe and I know where I’m going to put it. I know where the carts are going to be kept. What I don’t know, is, where should I keep the keys? Do they have to be locked away, hidden or what? Any info would help,

I tend to keep my keys with me most of the time. Peace of mind knowing exactly where they are.

I also briefed my wife that if the FLO or plod were ever to call round asking her for access to the guns, that she is to say to them that she has no idea whatsoever of where the keys are kept and refer them to me.

Ultimately, do what you feel comfortable with and feel is the safest/most secure.

    :good: to PW too.

  5. Hello

Shame you can't do Sundays, as Happy Valley (CLICK HERE>> LINK <<) run a fifty-clay sporting shoot, with a different layout each time. They are a very helpful bunch, welcoming to newcomers, beginners/non-SGC holders. They are very close to Reading, just south of the M4 not far from the M4/A33 junction.

They run on Thursday evenings during the summer months, but unfortunately for you, have just gone back to doing alternate Sundays for the autumn/winter.

I live very close to Reading, but am not sure of any clubs that run locally on a Saturday though, sorry.

Have you tried any of the clubs around the High Wycombe area? Churchills Clay Shooting ground??

Good luck in your search and :good: to PW

  6. If you want the underfloor heating to heat the room space, then the water/pipe system will be more cost effective long-term. If you just want to take the chill off the floor surface so that it's comfortable to walk on in bare feet, then the electric cable or mat system will do the job a treat and not cost you a fortune to run.

Try Warmup Underfloor heating or pm me for more details.

Sound advice from Imperfection too :good:

    Regards,

    Paul.

  7. Never had a missfire in the last 4 years, but it happened today for the first time, twice! one after the other! I think it might just have been the cartridges, was out with the old folding 410, fired but nothing happened, eeekkk. Anyway left it pointed towards mother earth for 30 seconds or so and then gingerley opened her up, took out the cartridge and slung it in the river. The lone and behold it happened again! Is never happened before, and it hasnt happened with any of the shots since.

Anne else had this happen? Whats the propper procedure to follow? Besides bricking your pants lol

Yes, happened to me recently too. Both me and a friend using Eley Fourlong .410 cartridges had misfires in two seperate guns. Firing pin had struck and marked the percussion cap but no bang.

    Dodgy batch? :P

  8. Caterpillar 'Holton' safety boots is what I wear at work and often end up wearing them when out shooting too. Very comfortable and normally last me at least a year or two.
