  1. Could someone who knows where the 3 Counties ground is re-post that Google Maps link? When I zoom in it's in the sea south of the Isle of Man!
  2. The main effect is that the primer is detonated by shock, not friction. Like you say, it's the same principle as those things kids throw on the ground. The shock-sensitive component is normally lead styphnate. Try this: http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/nij/training/fire...fir_m05_t07.htm
  3. Because? Seems likely if the gun was being lent under section 11(5) ("borrow a shot gun from the occupier of private premises and use it on those premises in the occupier's presence"). But if the gun was being lent under section 11(6) ("use a shot gun at a time and place approved for shooting at artificial targets by the chief officer of police") then there's no supervision requirement in the Firearms Act.
  4. Have a look at sections 6.14, 6.15, 5.9 and 5.4 of this: http://www.basc.org.uk/media/ho_guidance.pdf Looks like they can't lend you a gun if they have reason to believe you're of unsound mind. (I'm not saying you are!!) They obviously haven't had a reason so far. Unless you have to tell them, I'd keep quiet about the rejection and not give them a possible reason now.
  5. Lancaster Insurance Never tried claiming off them.
  6. That's right: it's at Bisley next Friday. Doesn't seem to be anything on their website about it.
  7. You could try this: http://www.border-barrels.com/shoot-in.htm
  8. There's a weight inside the action which is nudged by the recoil from the first shot, and sets up the trigger mechanism to fire the second barrel. Sounds like your problem is just that the movement of the weight is a bit stiff. The shop should be able to fix it easily.
  9. If your phone will run Google Maps mobile and has Bluetooth then you can get a Bluetooth GPS receiver for 20 quid (from here) and see where you are on your phone.
