  1. p.s i dont actually know what it weighs, thats why i was asking
  2. hello, thought id post a photo of the pike i caught on the second trip ive had pike fishing. i went with my brother and my dad and caught 12 fish between us, the largest being this fish which i caught on an abu firetiger spoon. it was a really good fight which lasted about 5 minutes long. i used my new wychwood sharpshooter spinning rod that i got for my birthday and so far i think im hooked. hopefully im off to cheddar resevoir next weekend which im told holds much larger fish than the drains we were fishing in. what do you rekon it weighs? cheers matt
  3. basically i hate poison, the reason for this is that even if the target animal eats the bait and dies there is a posibility that another animal could pick up the poisened animal and die a long painfull death itself, i rekon that traps such as fenns, bodygrippers, cage and all other humane traps are a hell of a lot better than poison, because firstly u can seen what uve caught, u can show the farmer/landowner what uve caught and u know that they were dispatched quickly and humanely. if i were u, id forget the poison and get some decent traps and learn how to use them to good affect. if u look after them they will last u a long time and take care of a lot of vermin. cheers matt
  4. umm it wasnt fully frontal it had a very slight angle to it and i think it exited to the right flank just behind the last ribs, so there was minimal meat damage. The broad side shot caused a lot more damage than the front shot. cheers for all the replys matt
  5. just got round to downloading some pics and thought id share this one. the pic show 78 but we shot quite a few more that couldnt be recovered due to not wanting to damage crops (farmer was watching) .the bag was shot over a field of half layed barley.and was my best bag ever.i shot wiht the bloke who i go stalking with. cheers matt
  6. yeah its a sako .243 lovely rifle shoots like a dream but its not mine unfortunately.
  7. there is nothing in those ones but to the right of where that pic was taken is about 9-10 avairies containing golden phesant, silver phesant, himilayan monals, call ducks, guinae fowl and a lot of chickens.i also rear golden pheasant, reeves pheasant, himilayan monals, and quail. i can't wait till they all start to lay so that i can get on with incubation. matt
  8. yeah i butchered them both myself and we gave a haunch, a saddle, and a front shoulder to the farmer, all the rest was split up between me and mark.
  9. I went stalking with a friend last sunday to see if we could get a roe doe, there are large numbers around my area so the farmer wanted a few taking care of . We stalked the same area last week where i took my first ever roe doe and it was fantastic.anyway we drove up to our usual spying point where you could view the whole land that was to be stalked. we glassed a single doe about 500 yards away going into a small belt of thick cover that borderd a road. Because of the road and wind derection we decided that the best bet was to sit at the bottom of a hedge bordering the field and see if they wandered out for a feed. We stalked our way down to our ambush point and layed up against a fallen tree with the bipod out providing a perfect sitting position.after about 5 minutes of waiting my freind gets out his call (think it was a fawn call) and starts to squeak away. As it was getting very dusky our visability was limited and we could only just see the shape of three roe walking out of the cover and dirctly towards us.It turned out to be a nice big buck and two does. I waited until the first does was about 50 yards away and because she wouldnt turn broadside i had to take a shot to the front of her chest.as soon as i heard the impact of the bullet and saw the roe drop i reloaded and after a bit of waiting my mate directed me to the other doe which was about 40-50 yards away. i was very suprised that she didnt run off with the buck but there she was, a perfect broadside shot, bang and she went down. We were both very pleased with the results of this 30 minute stalk and it was fantastic to see the buck at about 15 yards from out position in the hedge. Over all i think it was a great second stalk for me and i was taught how to butcher them properly aswell. sorry about the weird positions of the deer they were hung all night and went all stiff cheers matt

  14. went out into the garden at about 4 with the airgun and saw a squirel at the bottom.stalked along and shot it. i then heard a rusling to my right and saw another creeping towards me so i waited for it to stop and shot him too. just about to walk over and pick it up and i saw another about 30 yards away and nailed that one aswell  two were perfect head shots and one was a neck shot, all dropped and were dead before they hit the ground. matt
  15. and i forgot to say that i had my first left and right at they pigeons followed on by another one which i was chuffed with matt
  16. ive just got back from shooting over a field of wheat, which was half cut and half standing because th farmer had to stop because of heavy downpour a few days ago. anyway when me and a freind got there we saw about 15 flitting about and i walked down the field to have a closer inspection. i had a shot at one for the rotary and suddenly about 400 - 500 pigeons lifted off the field. i was so shocked because i couldnt even see 10 and suddenly they all popped up. we set up beneth a tree in the middle of the field with the rotary and about 15 shell decoys and had a constant supply of birds from about 1.00 to 7.00 we shot over a hundred but only picked up 82. its a shame that we couldnt find the other lot because of thick cover and the wheat. ill stick some picks up tomorrow for u to see. matt

  22. i went out this morning with my airgun while i was feeding my birds and i saw a few squirells at the bottom of my garden which were eating nuts from the hazel trees.i shot three in a row in about 5 minutes and then finished feeding the birds. after going fishing down the road and catching two brown trout i saw even more squirells in the haxel trees and shot two more. since it was at the bottom of my garden and it only took about 15 minutes in all i am very pleased. me with the squirells me with a magpie that i shot at the bottom of the garden a few days ago. my birds pekin cock old dutch bantam cock
  23. went out at eight and had a drive round the fields to see if there were any pigeons and it was completely dead in all the fields except one which had a few flying around but not many. there was a bit of a flight line and we set up. anyway, we only saw about 15 birds and i shot 1 cause all the others were setting the wings then pulling out just before they were in range. it was a bit disapointing but better than sitting at home doing nothing.im going to go back tomorrow to see if i cant get a better bag. cheers matt
  24. im going out decoying with a mate now the farmer said that his crops are getting hit so we are going to see what happens. i have no idea what crop it is cause im not the one whos spoken to the farmer but i know that he has wheat , barley and rape so its a bit of a "make it up as you go alonfg day. ill try and post some pics
