  7. Me and my dad went fishing today in bath, we tried two locations. The first was the weir pool in batheaston which we were told was a good spot for pike. Unfortunately nothing happened so we moved to a place 5 minutes away called newbridge, its meant to hold some very good size pike so we thought we'd give it a go and it payed off. my dad caught this on a trotted roach deadbait I also hooked a pike which was slightly smaller but it managed to unhook itself , i hooked it on lamprey when i got caught up in a tree and the bait was still in the water. we tried a few different baits including roach, herring and lamprey. cheers matt

    S400

The s410 has a regulator in it unlike the s400 which doesnt. I have the older s400 and the way i get around the saftey issue is, put a pellet in the chamber but without cocking it, then when you want to shoot you pull back the bolt and fire. If the chance of a shot disapears you pull back the bolt to the maximum and then hold in the trigger, then you realease the bolt followed by the trigger. It works for me but i suggest that you practise this a few times first while the gun is pointing at the ground and not loaded for safety reasons. p.s the s400 is a great gun, mine is in .177 and has taken hundreds of vermin in the 3(think its 3) years ive had it. Try h&n feild in it , works best in my gun. matt
  11. hi, i saw your ad and i really fancy the gp. was just wondering since im skint would you except 160 quid worth of greys flyfishing kit for the gun. its all unused kit which i got from insurance after my shed was broken into. thanks a lot matt

  13. when we went to the farm we never intended to do any game shooting. It was purely vermin control but then a nearby pheasant shoot flushed a fair few birds over us and into a nearby hedge, we thought we might aswell take the oppertunity. All birds were taken at no more than 20 yards so it wasnt as if we attempting to take them at the same ranges as 12 bore 'game' guns. If we decide to pursue any pheasant before leaving the house i will without a doubt take the 12bore with me. The pheasant were dead in the air , no need for a humane dispatch atall cheers matt
  14. yeah this one's growing on me, ive not had it very long and i dont think ill be getting rid of it for quite a while. when we were shooting the pigeons the farthest one i shot must have been about 30 yards away and i was very pleased. The two pheasant were shot about 20 yards away after they broke from a hedge with a stream running through it. I was using 2 3/4 inch cartridges in no.6 shot and nearly all kills were clean. matt

  22. cheers for the replys i was planning on having the bronze stag for xmas but in the end i thought that id prefer to keep him and breed him seeing as hes such a nice tame bird, hes my only male so if i was to eat him it would mean that id have to search about in spring when i wanted to breed a few (pain in the ***). thats a golden pheasant male. lady amherst have a white back rather than a yellow one i think?, hes my only mature male at the moment , i have about 4 other males that were bred this year. think its more likely to be had by the cold , but ill keep an eye out anyway :o i am planning on knocking up a few long, low nest boxes incase it gets frosty, i lost a few to it last winter cheers matt
