  4. Hey 'mark_mjs93' Whats roost shooting time? LOL ..............is there seasons to it? cHEERS
  5. I thought it was my questions why people have not been commenting! ALL your advise is great and exactly what i needed! I think a shotgun is the was forward i think sub 12 ft Lb's .22 rifle is not the more effective tool Thank you again noluv6
  6. Thanks you! you can tell im a newbie lol.....ill have a look-see
  7. Suppose i never thought about using shot pigeon!
  8. Ok please guys bare with me......im still frigile and not fully broken in! I have juts got shooting permission on some land close to where i live! I was chuffed to bits as a completly 'winged it' but i think the only reason he gave me it was because on one of the fields crow was hammering it and the one otherfields pigeons were having a party! As Soon as i walked up to the bushes they just took off! (and laughed on the way) I want to get things right rather then winging it all the time so i would LOVE all your advice!? I am going back Friday as i have a day off work! Woop Woop 1, Decoying = iv looked at pattens but they all seem to suggest shooting with a shotgun rather then a sub 12ft lb rifle (BSA lighting XL springer). Will pigeon land next to decoys long enough for you to take a shot? 2, Flight Path = the land i have shooting permission over has just small shrubs and small bushes without any great big tree's etc. I dont know what it ment by implying arranging your decoys within the flight path 3, Hides = I was laid in the shrubs pretty much covered, the decoys was facing the wind 5x of them just dotted around 20 yards from where i was hiding!! Do i need lots and lots of camo? Or a little camo three man tent ......what kind of hide is best? 4, Targets = suggestions have been made to suggest in order to be effective at shooting you will need to be able to shoot 5 shots withing the diameter of a 2p all the time at 35-40 yards?? I set a 2p out at 35 Yards (with a 3-9x40 scope) is this right? 5, Collecting shot birds = When i shoot pigeon the other will fly off (right?) and then do i go and collect it or leave it there? Will the pigeons returns if its still there? or do i come out of hide? Ok im sorry ill stop now i know it might be a bit over the top and many post may have some of the answers but just with reference to shooting with a rifle not a shotgun. Also are all rifles out of the box much less then 12 ft lbs??? AHHH to many questions. Thanks in advance everyone! Lee

  17. Hi there I know you said you want Part x only but just for clarity would you not sell for cash under any circumstances? Kind regards
  18. and yes you will find that most of these threads do or should end up in the playpen, its all just humor at the end of the day and i thought it was my turn for the soap ha Thanks for the clarity guys..........its all taken light hearted anyway I think ill take a bottle of whiskey with me whilst asking for permission (bribe) might go a long way to getting it. ha
  19. Thanks for that if i knew that about half an hour ago i would have not posted my first comment ahahaha looks like a got a little bit torn into Thanks i will have a look now Cheers
  20. Hey thanks for that mature comment!! I will go shotting as apparently for each woody or crow its capable of £1000 worth of damage each over its life span!!! i think my weekend will be looking for my first permission! And for the record it was CRACK and i grind it down and have it in my yogurt!
  21. or sniffing it? ask him again when you plonk a bit of roast pheasant or venison on his plate Ok i think i get the picture! wow wish i knew how to pull the whole thing now
  22. Hi people my name is Lee, I live in the city and have done all my natural life. My family and everyone i know also live in the city centre of Hull. A few years ago a bought a £100 rifle (not to sure what it was) and i did a bit of target practice and then sold it on. Now at the tender age of 21 i have bought another rifle but this time with a great intention of taking this seriously . Its a cheap £20 rife from our car boot. I now know this is a B2 (chinese rip off) and could not take down a tin can ha . OK OK enough of going around the houses. I have had a look at buying a BSA lightning XL which i WILL be purchasing BUT............................................My girlfriends dad said he would not like to come hunting with me because as he thinks that it is not right to shoot live quarry. I made some of the points why i think shooting vermin is ok and he made his points (to which some was valid) on why its wrong I know shooting rabbits and woodies to eat would be a purpose behind it but shooting for a sport IS THAT RIGHT OR WRONG! Sorry for the somewhat confussed ramble but just thought you knowledgeable guys would help
  23. I know you're joking about the suit, but just in case of doubt, I just mean look clean and tidy and presentable. It really helps if you've done your homework and you turn up and say something like, 'Hello, is it possible to speak to Mr Macdonald?' rather than, 'Can I speak to the farmer?' or 'Is the farmer in?' Even if you do everything right, don't be discouraged over knock backs. When I was starting out in shooting thirty odd years ago, I had to drive half way around the county and call at what seemed like dozens of farms before I found anything half way decent to shoot over, before long though I had more shooting than I could reaslistically get around. indeed it was a joke but thanks for the clarity :@P A BIG THANKS TO ALL THAT HAVE WELCOMED ME! When i first ventured out of the back garden from target shooting i did not think it would be as hard! But ill pack a few cold drinks and sandwiches and lets see if i can get my first bit of land! on a note i wish i did not have to say..........one of you guys mentioned that it took almost a year to get permission but now i know why there are so many individuals that shoot on land without permission. With it been so hard this can only get worst. Its shocking as this only gives a bad name to honest and reliable shooters like 'Our goodselves' Grrrrrrrrr there is suppose to be 3 shooters to ever piece of land (i DID just make this up BUT its how it tends to feel) ahahahahaha
  24. EVILV Thank you Great advice! It just given that break to prove yourself and do eliminate the problems that all farmers have! Ill let you know how i get on and hopefully follow with pictures! :@P Time to get out my best suit now...........ha
