Evening all.
Here's my youngest dog from the last litter I bred, he's 14 months old today and is coming along well.
He's a big dog and stands at 14 1/2 " with a nice smooth jacket, and has developed a cracking head on him.
He's stopped messing around so much now in the field and is gamely joining his mother and elder sister at bushing. He's going to be a slow learner I think but his mother didn't show any interest at going to ground until she was two, so we shall just have to see how he turns out work-wise.
Last week in his first adult class as a smooth coated dog he got a third at the Jack Russell Terrier Club of GB National Show, which was very pleasing considering he was up against some of the best working Russell's in the country.

I wouldn't normally sound the horn for any commercial company, but.......
Six months ago I started using Whites Premium Dog Food for my working terriers, and it's without doubt the best food I have ever used to feed my five terriers.
I buy the original lamb and rice, then mix it 50/50 with the Working Dog Vitality Muesli, and the dogs have never looked better.
The Original Lamb and Rice is just the right size for terriers. The Working Dog Vitality Muesli is nice and soft and moist and would be fine for gun dogs, as the biscuit is slightly larger - the dogs love it and it's a very good quality food.
I brought it in bulk direct from them and managed to get a discount too off their advertised prices.

That's because there's plenty of discarded McDonald's and KFC around for them to scavenge, and your cat probably kills as much of the wild life as the foxes do, Ms Lumley. Besides, if that fox was hungry enough he'd soon be eating Tiddles for his dinner.
The majority of these foxes don't need culling anyway, they do little harm within our cities, although some of the diseased ones I've seen should be dispatched and it wouldn't be a bad idea to get rid of them. These are more the inner city dwellers though, where there is little or no natural habitat for them except the parks and the odd cemetery.

I brought a Yildiz S/S .410 last year which I adore and use all the time, but that Beretta I could really fall in love with.

I'm 50 this year and I brought myself a S/S Yildiz .410 last year from Fuzrat on here. It's a superb little gun and light as a feather, I often take it when out for a stroll doing a bit of rough shooting and probably use it more than my 20 guage.
Start with a .410, young Ratsmasher, a S/S if you can like the above mentioned Yildiz, as they are far more fun than a single.
Get the hang of that for a couple of years then move up to a 20 guage and forget your 12 guage for now, after using the 20 you may not want to go to 12 anyway as they are just as good for everyday needs.

Guys and Girls am after a little help. Our 14 month old JRT in the last 3 days has started to carry his rear right leg, we have checked him over and no visable injorys are showing and he shows no sign of pain but is increasingly doing it. I trimmed his hair between his pads as this was a little long and may of been irritating him but this didnt help and so trimmed his claws so he was deffinatly comfortable when walking but has carryed on doing it even when running. He also has only just started to cock his leg when pee`ing but doesnt know why he`s doing it and just does it in the middle of the lawn not up anything but this i doubt has any bearing on it.
Any suggestions why he`s doing would be great !
Sorry, I have only just seen this message and have not been on the Forum for several months.
Is he still lifting his leg or alternating it, if so I wouldn't worry at all.
I have a bitch that used to do that, lift a back leg and walk on three for about three or four steps, then she would bring it down again. She did it quite a lot when she was young but is five now and only does it occasionally but I wouldn't worry about it.
You did the right thing trimming the hair between the pads and keeping her nails down.

I've been to the Midland three times, and each time it took me over two hours to get in and the same getting out, a complete and utter shambles and I will never go again.
I've been to a lot of Game Fairs, County Shows etc and the best I've ever been to is the Edenbridge and Oxted show in Surrey, which is on this Bank Holiday weekend. Huge event, very well organised and something for everyone.

When I was a young teenager in the mid-70's, you rarely ever saw Staffordshire Bull Terriers, and the first one I ever saw was owned by a chap who used to train us and he had two of them. I liked the dog then and have always had a soft spot for them.
However, back then the dogs were much much smaller all over and were a proper 'Terrier' size, yet nowadays through messing around with the breeding they have got huge like the one shown in the picture, with heads twice the size they were back then and bodies almost the same. The English Bull Terrier has also gone the same way and a few weeks back I saw one that was almost as big as a Lab in height, it was massive.
Six months back I happened to visit an old friend of mine in London who lives in a particularly rough estate, in the yard outside the flats he lives i were half a dozen teenagers winding a Staffie up and trying to teach it to attack people. My first instincts were to intervene and ask what the hell they were doing, but sense got the better of me as I didn't fancy the dog being set on me, or worse get stabbed and beaten up.
It's a really great shame all the f-ck-wits of this world have ruined the breed and got them such a bad name.

There was a programe on around 4-6 months ago where they looked into the whole sorry affair, and on that they showed the CCTV footage of him moving about between buildings supposedly after he had already killed his family.

Or go and join the Army or Royal Marines and they'll make you do it on the North Yorkshire Moors or Dartmoor whether you want to or not. They'll even let you take a gun with you as well, but with no ammo

Last year my Terriers had a field day nearly every time we went out, hoovering up the rabbits on the edge of the fields with Mixy.
Not seen any this year though and the populations don't seem to have suffered as a consequence.

Let's face it, this match didn't need anyone with a degree in Quantum Physics to realise that there was a good chance of trouble erupting, as there has always been bad blood between the two sets of supporters.
I'm old enough to remember when one of the supporters (West Ham if I remember correctly) was thrown off a moving train and killed by the opposing fans back in the 80's.
It's the first time the two teams have met in 15 years, it was always going to be a dodgy affair and everyone should have expected it.

I agree with NJC and don't see a problem with it whatsoever, if you are mentally ill then there is no way you should hold firearms.

When any of my bitches come into season I keep them well away from my dogs, as the dogs will inevitably harass the bitch.
At around 12 days into her season I will put them together and if the bitch is ready her tail will move around and she will stand for him to mount her, if he tries before she's ready then the bitch will usually not let him get on her, so wait another day or so.
He doesn't need to be constantly mounting her, twice is enough and when she is ready for him I let them do it once then again 2 days later to be sure. But keep them apart in between as it's not fair on the bitch to have him harassing her all the time.

We had a look at the baikal before, very light and seems good value for the money (ie cheap in case he doesn't get on with it
)Perfect gun, not the best quality but absolutely bomb-proof and excellent value for money.
If you really want to splash out take a look at the Yildiz Elegant S/S .410, a really cracking gun and I've got one on my wish list.

.410's are great fun and I believe they are the perfect gun for starting shooting, I still use one myself today especially when rough shooting, nice and light too.
Once you've mastered one moving up to a bigger gauge is so much easier too, in fact my neighbour's son started with a .410 around 18 months ago and he's now starting to use his Mother's 20g. He's learnt well, is a damn good shot and if nothing else apart from safety it has taught him accuracy.
I wouldn't be without a .410 in my cabinet.

Side by sides were, apart for single barrels, the way it all started...
but..........lets have a moment to think......progression..........we all love to shoot, dont matter what ...
go and book youreself some tuition, and ask to try out both....
It is personel preference afterall, and there are still alot of variables to consider after that!!!!!!!

My first gun was a S/S with double trigger and it was never a problem for me.

Good effort, sounds like she has the making of a good little worker and seems to be coming along perfectly for you.
