  1. Damn. I'm sorry about the problems people have been having with the links here. My fault. But the rifle has been sold now anyway I'm afraid. Thanks for your interest.
  2. NOW SOLD Sandwell Field Sports-Tuned HW80 / 95 Hybrid in .177 & extras This was originally an HW80k in 22. Tony at Sandwell Field Sports tuned it and converted it into a .177 by adding the barrel from an HW95. It's a powerful and accurate gun with a smooth action. It has an illuminated, parallax-adjustable scope - a Hawke Eclipse IR 3 - 9 x 50 AO - which is in very good condition (bought new less than two months ago). There's also a 16mm Weihrauch silencer. The rifle has been used extensively in the field. The stock bears scratches and one patch where I've sanded a scratch down to the extent that I removed an area of wood stain. I bought the rifle from a bloke who'd converted it for a young kid to use and he'd shortened the stock. He did it very tidily and kept the bit he sawed off. When I bought it I glued & screwed it back on and so there's a visible line where this has been done. The HW95 barrel is in extremely good nick, very good bluing and it bears the inscription 'Mantis' in gold. The original HW80 cylinder is not in as good condition and shows widespread - though not deep - surface deterioration (see pics). Comes with: - Two slips: a rollable Jack Pyke camo one with carabina clip, very handy for the fields & long enough for the rifle plus silencer. Also a padded Sabre bag which will take the unsilenced rifle only. Both slips have had small repairs and have seen use in muddy fields. - The original iron sights from the HW80 (the 95 barrel does not have the grooves to take the end sight). - A spare set of high mounts. - Two extra bikini lens covers in addition to the Hawke ones. - Half a tube of Bluing paste. - 3/4 tin of RWS Superdomes. - Sling swivels & strap I made out of old leather belts and zip ties: not pretty but works. £175 Collected £195 Posted. Collection much preferred (I'm a minute or two from M6 J13 - Stafford) 20 photos HERE
  3. Since I posted upthread I wrote a fairly lengthy article on my blog as a summary of what I've learned in the first year of rabbit hunting and as a kind of intro to absolute beginners: http://austeritygrub.blogspot.com/2009/10/...-air-rifle.html I changed my mind about .22 v .177 and wrote a post about that too which might be a kind of follow on to the above: http://austeritygrub.blogspot.com/2010/03/...ng-rabbits.html Cheers all & happy hunting!
  4. "Lenin loving cronies have a lion's share of the media output" Wow, that's certainly an opinion. The media in the UK is dominated by Lenin-loving ultra-leftists, is it? Crikey! To tell you the truth, that comes as something of a surprise to me. A surprise because, for one, it's astounding that not only could someone hold so wildly mistaken a view but also that they should hold it so strongly as to consider it fit for public distribution as a statement of fact. It's not a statement of fact; it's wildly, hugely, astoundingly, obviously not the case that the press is ultra-left dominated here. The Daily Mail, the Telegraph, the evening Standard, the Times, Hello magazine, The Express, the local press in its entirety - all these are run by a frothing cabal of entryist Trots then, are they? No; no they're not. The press in this country is overwhelmingly dominated by Rupert Murdoch. Say what you like about Murdoch, he doesn't go to sleep every night clutching a dog-eared copy of Das Kapital to his chest. You may cheerfully - or indeed angrily - assert the contrary; but anyone who's ever chanced inside a branch of WH Smiths and spent more than a moment perusing the racks will be able to see at once that what you're saying is patently not true. The BNP? If you think the levels of immigration into this country are a problem, then engage in politics - real politics - and do something about it. By this, I don't mean sullying your ballot paper with a vote for the BNP - because the BNP are not a genuinely political party at all; they're simply anger, hate, fear, bigotry and violence masquerading as a political party. Five minutes reading their manifesto will make this abundantly clear. Engage with conservative politics; engage with Labour or Liberal politics - argue with them, get involved in the real thing.
  5. My blog on learning to hunt rabbits isn't really a guide, but I've certainly been going through the process of learning these last six months and I' ve been writing as I've been doing it: It's called Rabbit Stew: http://austeritygrub.blogspot.com/ (In the background as I write this is - actually - a bubbling rabbit stew from one I managed to get yesterday!) Best of luck!
  6. Crosman 2250B Ratcatcher plus steel breech, better springs, scope, silencer, gas etc, etc! Used but in good condition (see pics) with: Crosman steel breech, Nikko Sterling Silver Crown 4 X 32, Delrin silencer, Stronger hammer spring with Delrin guide plus lighter trigger spring (just fitted), 23 Crosman Co2 cylinders, Tin of approx 195 Bisley Pest Control .22's, Original front sight and springs included. £130 Posted. £120 Collected. This is a nice, light, accurate, pokey gun - and fairly quiet too!. I'm new to this and I've been looking round, trying various guns to try and figure out what I want in a hands-on kinda way. I'm a lousy stalker and I want to drop bunnies, so the nice, used HW80k I've just bought will work better for me than this sharp little Ratty - hence the sale. I'm assuming I can send this first class recorded Royal mail for a tenner. Paypal is fine. Cash is finer! I'm a newbie here, but I'm kosher!
  7. Thank you for the very good deal on this very fine little Ratcatcher! Cheers! Pete
