  1. Ah, thanks for the info. I presume when you say you think the laws changed and someone over 18 will have to be present, you mean on the way to the grounds? I am pretty certain it is between 14 and 17 you can shoot unsupervised. Thanks again.
  2. Hello, My friend and I have brought a couple springers (Edgar Brothers Mod. 60 S) for plinking purposes, as we currently shoot .22 rimfire at a local club and would like something we can shoot a little more frequently. My friend's father owns a patch of land which meets all the legal requirements to be able to shoot on, and we're both old enough (I am 17, and he is 16) to shoot unsupervised there. We were just wondering what the laws are with regards to transporting the air rifles there? I presume you can't just walk out in the open with one, even if it it's unloaded and in a gun slip/ bag. Not that I'd want to, though- something tells me that in today's climate I'd have a van of armed men wielding H&Ks screaming at me before I could say 'NANNY SATE'. We were planning on getting a lift to a nearby location, then walking from there- but it's still a small distance. Will someone over 18 have to be present with us on the way down? Thanks for the help, Onnet.
  3. Ok, thanks for the help I think we're both looking at the XS36 Magnum kit. It comes with a lot of stuff too. I'll make sure to buy a sample-pack too, so I can run them through it.. see what is best-suited. Thanks again :(
  4. That does look fantastic, but I'm afraid I made an error with the budget. Where my budget is around about £200 (and the Stingray looks nice), my friend's is ~£120. :( Does anyone know any for around that amount which hold similar requirements (beginner target-shooting air rifle)? I have been looking at rifles like the DB4, with a scope included, and it looks perfect for the budget (£99.99).. it's just they're all .22. Would it make a radical difference with target shooting? Thanks for the help so far *EDIT* Would the XS 19 and XS 36 packages HERE be any good for our requirements? They come with a lot of extras.
  5. Hey there, my friend and are trying to get into shooting, but as we're both only 16, we have decided to start off at the very bottom, and work our way up. We have found a local club in our area, and are making enquiries as to get a membership going. The one thing that we're not too sure of at the moment, however, is whether we will have to purchase our own guns or not straight away... Firstly, I presume that .177 is "better" for target-shooting, and .22 is suited more towards hunting small vermine? With this in mind, could anyone please recommend my friend and I a good value-air rifle suited for target-shootng, and for the beginner-market. It would be preferable if we could order from this site, Pellpax, as it looks pretty good value. We're willing to spend up to around £200 maximum, but please let me know if that is an unrealistic budget . Thanks for the help, Joe.
  6. Ok, thanks for all the help. So overall, I have to buy the scope and the mount seperate? The scopes themselves don't come with them?
  7. Just thought I'd give a late 'Hello!'. I didn't get chance to introduce myself before. My name's Joseph, I like computers.
  8. Heh. My EMAs getting a pain now. Apparantly something went wrong somewhere, which means I don't get it for a while yet. Still though, should be £400+ all in one go (luckily, it's backdated). As for the gun, well, when I do get it; i'll post pictures etc... up . I am just getting started at the moment, you see, so a springer is probably a wiser choice at the moment. When I'm into a club and all ready in that respect, I'll go for a gas one. As you said though, EMA should be very helpful Thanks for the help.
  9. Ahh, I think I understand now! Thanks mate. Regards, Joe. Not long now, I hope. Just need my bloody EMA money to come through.
  10. Hey there, You've probably noticed me asking around a lot recently, as I am slowly moving towards the purchase of my first air rifle (hopefully). I have a question about the scope mounting system, however. Is it a universal fit for all air rifles, or does the scope vary in its attachment methods. For example, if I were to get the SMK XS19, for example, and then buy a telescopic scope, would there be any main specifications I should look for (in terms of the gun, or the scope itself)? I have yet to see any mention, to my knowledge anyway, of 'mounting methods' on either of the two items. Thanks for the help, Joe.
  11. My local gun store doesn't really specialise in air-guns, and I'm not sure if they let you actually test-fire them; so I am going on other peoples' experience. I think that as it's a first gun, and I don't have much to compare it to, it's best for me to spend as much time researching and finding out the best value one as possible, then just go for it. I should get used to it fine. Also, thanks for the comfirmation of the SMK XS19, I'll look further into that . Regards, Joe.
  12. What would you guys make of something like this: SMK XS19 for the price? Judging from most reviews, it's getting ~8-9/10 and is apparantly very good for beginners. The accuracy isn't too bad either. Also, another quick question- am I right in believing that if I order online, I have to get it shipped to my local rfd, rather than have it sent directly to my house? If so, how much is the fee, typically? Thanks again, Joe.
  13. Alright then, if that would make more sense; of course. Any more recomendations for a good value springer? (Taking ~£100).
  14. Sorry for the double post. I was just reading up on Cometa 50, and in a matter of minutes I found a lot of bad reviews. Apparantly it's not very powerful at all, and isn't very reliable ... From what I'm hearing, I might go with a c02 gun to begin with. I'm reading up on the SMK QB78 Deluxe at the moment
