  1. Second shout for action pigeons (john). Really nice bloke and will try and put you on the pigeons. As to your question about what size of bag can be expected, it's impossible to answer. Unless john can controll the birds by his mind they will be where they want to be. You can't pay for a day and expect any sort of guarantee, you pays your money and takes your chances. ATB 425

I think you should not take my question as asking for an exact number. it was for a ruff estimate of what to expect. as I have said in my earlier post I have been shooting for a long time and did not think I had to explain that I know that pigeons are wild and you can not say if you are going to shoot any. But there must be a ruff estimate of what can be expected.

Ie on a bad day from 0 to 20

good day form 30 to 50

    or a bumper day xxx

but then again im a bit rusty on the shot gun and I can take that in to account.

or if they can not give figures then I would expect to see a good few. ie be put in to a good spot on the flight line where pigeons have been observed over the last couple of days.

this I would expect for a paid day. ( now whether they decoy or not is another matter)

so john does not have to control the birds with his mind now does he.

  4. Hi
I have decided to sell my spotter. (as above )
This unit is brand new and has not been used as I had to send it back to Thomas jacks for a replacement as the camera mount thread was damaged on my old unit. so they replaced it with a new unit.

I think you all know this is by far a lot better unit than the cheaper Recons that pulsar sell this is why I brought this one.
I have had this for about six months and have been lucky enough to be sorted out with another set up so this one has to go.

I'm not putting the specs up as they are all over the net

    I'm looking for £550 posted

  5. The Pulsar Recon X550 digital night vision monocular is a compact and lightweight digital NV scope which is designed for hunting, security purposes and wildlife viewing at long ranges.

Pulsar Recon X series nightvision features a greater range of view (up to 500meters) than the Recon models due to a more sensitive CCD array and advanced program technology employed in this model - Sum Light

    The Recon X 550 features

•Contrast Gain Function: The user can choose preferable LCD display.

    •Sum Light signal processing function.

•Brightness Adjustment wheel: Adjusts optimum brightness of screens glow for each specific case.

•Built in High Power Stealth IR Illuminator: For usage at insufficient levels of natural illumination (such as starlight) for improvement of observation quality

•Indication: Recon features LED indicators performing two functions. The green light indicates power on, and when you turn on the IR, the LED changes colour to Red but displays in a moderate intensity which does not illuminate the observer. Crucial for security applications.

•Eyepiece: The device is outfitted with a new five lens eyepiece that minmizes distortion on the edges of the field of view and increases sharpness, definition and contrast. The soft rubber eyecup conceals the light emission from the tube thus permitting the user to stay unnoticed.

•Power Supply: The Recon is a fully self contained device operating on four universally available AA batteries.

Video Input/Output: The Recon is equipped with a socket for connection of external video recording sources or TV set which facilitates long-time stationary viewing, as well as video playback sources. Switching from VIDEO IN mode to VIDEO OUT is performed by pressing a button located next to the socket.

    Hi All

But still classed as second hand as it has been brought from a shop

I have for sale a brand new Beretta 686 E 30" Sporter multi choke

This shotgun was brought 3 years ago brand new, and has never been used, (Not one shot has gone through this )

There is one mark on the stock where it has been put in the safe. This is why it is up for sale, before it is marked any more as there is not a lot of room in the safe. I have been told you can get this out with a iron and a wet cloth. I'm not going to try this as I don't want to make it worse. And I have never tried this before, So not prepared to risk it.

comes with the plastic case and everything you get with it from new.

    chokes

    choke key

    oil

    spear but pad.

This type of shotgun goes out for about £1,700 New

    I'm looking for £1.400

    RFD costs + P&P

that's £300 saving for a mark that you should be able to get out.

  7. Hi all, my 8 month old lab is coming on great with his training. The only problem (so far) is when he meets people he jumps up. I always make sure that he sits first then let the person stroke - say hello, but after a few seconds of stroking he gets a bit exciting and jumps up.

Is there anything I can teach him or is it something he will grow out of?

    Cheers

    Andy

dont let other pepole stroke your dog. i know it sounds harsh but i want my dog to come back to me not go for a fuss with someone else. they all so dont wonder off as much if you dont let others fuss them.

    just my take on it

  8. Hi

I try to do a lot of light cover and get the dog a lot of finds and thick cover has never been an ishu as they know the score with the success they have had in light cover.

a lot of the problems people have with dogs is down to them pushing there dogs to quick.

if i offered you a small reward for a lot of work and sometimes no reward for a lot of work how long would you be working for me.

dogs are just the same give them very very easy thing to do and lots of success and success will bread success

get them really keen on very light cover and slowly make it harder and harder cover with lots of finds

you can put a training dummy in thick cover just to get him /her used to success when you have sent them in to thick cover and nothing was in there. a bingo they trust you and get a nice retrieve to boot.

  9. just to clear things up im not ripping anyone off

If you dont want them or think they are to expensive then dont buy them or make an offer for them.

then you will not feel riped off.

As for the key board numptys

I have done a lot of good cheap work for a lot of people on this and other forums, jobs that would have cost 3 times as much and would not have been done to as high a standard as mine where.

never have i been accused of ripping someone off and do you really think this is the place to do so? no wounder people dont post on this and other forums with this kind of response.

and if you care to read my 1st post you will find they are not my cases as i have not shot a 22.250 for years, just thought someone could benefit from them, or make an offer for them and help 2 people

  11. Hi All

I have just brought myself a new cocker, Not had a cocker before just had springer's and GSPs.

He is 17 month old, And had all his training done up to going on live game,

Iv just been out with him and my springer and he was working well for me a lot better than i thought he would.when i went to see him work he was very responsive on the whistle and handled well on blind retrieves, we got him to retrieve pigeon and pheasant and a good few dummies, all looked well.

i have now got to get him used to me and my stile and i might even change his name yet.

i like my dogs in the house wile im in and in the dog run when im out or bed time.

Not got time to put some photos of him up yet but will do if anyone is interested.

I will be doing some more work with him tomoz and Tuesday and Wednesday i will be picking up with him, but i shall keep him on the lead a lot as it is a large shoot so don't want to push him to quick, just take it nice and slow and hopefully he will just fit in nice.

  13. Hi

I use dummy's all the time and my dog is now 9 and i have used them all the way through his life, he loves them. some dogs do go off dummy's when they have been switched to the real thing but if your dog is only 1/2 as keen as mine is then why deprive him of all that fun
