  1. The South African Police task force is the only police force in the world that are allowed to work alongside the secret service when protecting the US president, The SA police also provide sniper cover, which means the US president is in their line of fire, so amazing trust there from the yanks to the SA force. :good:

  2. I only haad Virgin when it was NTL. the broadband was ****. the tv was ****. the phonecalls expensive. Nothing seemed to work, and the call centres, like said, are run by 'Steve' in Bombay. Sky equipment seems to by ok, and the broadband is running fine. I have a small issue every six months with one thing or another. They are more expensive then Virgin, but whilst mine is working, i dont want to upset it.

That is like saying Libya is a safe place to go on holiday because you use to go there years ago when the Gaddafi regime was intact.

  3. TIVO ?

    http://tivo.virginmedia.com/?buspart=google&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=TiVo&utm_campaign=14%20-%20Product:%20TV&gclid=CNKuoKWEgKgCFZEifAodxCEgrQ

Virgin have some of the fastest broadband of all the providers and its unlimited, I download anything from 20GB to 200GB a month, movies, music and what ever I want, been doing this for a long while now and no complaint from Virgin, the other big names would of had a fit by now!

I cant comment on customer service as never needed them in over two years

  4. In my household the BBQ season runs from the 1st january to the 31st December, :P

Had about 10 BBQ's already this year, which by our standards is lacking behind a little. At least with all the snow around earlier in the year it helped keep the beers cold outside

And yes, never clean a BBQ, just heat it up and give it a scrub with the wire brush and all is good :good:

  5. Guinea fowl - these three languages - would that be Leigh (l-hey), Wiggin, and English then?

    LOL LOL :lol::lol:

Afrikaans, Dutch, English, can just about get around with Zulu as I was from the countryside.

  6. Yes, I agree there is some bad spelling, but that don't mean people are stupid or cant be bothered.

Let me put it this way, my spelling sucks really bad sometimes and my grammar is almost nonexistent, :o but before you tell me of for spelling and all that, just remember that the English language is not my native language in fact English is my third language and for a third language I think it is not that bad  so for all those that tell those off for spelling, just how many languages can you speak? never mind read or write!

Then there is the smartphone's, the buttons are really small and typing can be quite difficult at the best of times and mistakes on phones is not always as easy to correct.

So all the spell police can take their views and in plane English, **** off :good:

  7. Just fine on my blackberry.......well it wasnt just made to play music and pointless games.

PW is pretty much fine as it is on the iPhone, take your BB and go on forums like "world sea fishing" or "fly fishing forum" and see how you get on with your little BB, or here is a nice big one I use a lot "reef central". Simply put your Blackberry is like a BMW and the Samsung and the rest are like Audi, which are good but everyone agree that they will rather have an Aston Martin if they could afford it.

  8. As I get good reception from 3, I went with them and got the iPhone 4 16GB with all you can eat data, 2000 min, 5000 min to other 3 numbers and unlimited text all for £35 a month and £69 for the phone, so not a bad deal at all :D :D

  9. Whats going on here? A thread about an Apple product. It's got 10 replies and two days old and no sign of Billy, wow that must be a record

  10. Well today she went in the council offices and spoke to some one on the desk they got the details and said the account was closed then she said about £72 outstanding then so she said she was quite happy to pay this amount today and then the matter could be closed. The woman was nice and then she phoned recovery so i was sat there on the phone to this department. So she told her the story and then offered to pay the outstanding amount before charges were incurred. She then followed up saying the debt is now £148 then court charges on top then the bailiffs costs adding up too £269.20.

By now its confused the heck out of her why they can say one thing one day and something different the next. So it was discussed the point we never received a letter at our new address and she said they do not have to send it there my last known address was sufficiant to send a court order too and that after this they have done a trace to find her ( why they could not have done this previous i dont know). So she then spoke to her superior and she was very arrogant and made her feel like a child because she did not have post redirected after moving and told her this. She offered to pay the £148 and she refused to close the case so she did not pay then after more discussing said that she would not pay the bailiffs and they would not get in our home so it would be best to do this but she would not budge, so then said about paying £10 a week to them for the full amount and she said no she must pay the bailiffs so ended the conversation as she had to pick our daughter up from school.

The bailiff did come round and i did not let him in the guy was actually o.k with me and said to phone the council, the letter is a final notice 24hrs and says it's a final opportunity to pay the bailiff by instalments andwith a total of 269.20 plus costs and it will incur a statutory fee for him to do the paperwork , if not then it will go to the enforcement bailiffs who will attend the property to obtain full payment or remove goods

  11. Watching some of those videos on the BBC it's quite amazing how many Japs grabs a Canon and starts snapping away instead of ducking for cover, no wonder we are getting such amazing pictures from there, nevertheless it's devastating and our thoughts are with them.

  12. To clear up some confusion, can you tell us if this was a liability order or a CCJ.

Both can result in Bailiffs visit but the first and most important rule to remember is they can only gain access peacefully.

That means if you leave a door or window open, they can enter, if you let them in, thats it.

Refuse them entry, no foot in the door, dont fall for the excuse of using the toilet or phone because again, thats classed as peacefull entry.

A liability order is not kept on registers unlike a CCJ so would not trash a credit report.

If you want excellent help, visit www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk

Free to register and they know thier stuff.

    Hi.

It is for a liability order issued by the magistrates, and says they attended today to seize goods for the debt and costs. The company is jacobs certified bailiffs. Also we moved out of that council area.

    Regards

  13. "In writing this im assuming the bailiffs are not court bailiffs. "

    Yep,

Thanks guys i will have to get down there with her tomorrow.

I hate the flipping council they make my skin crawl :sly: , it took them 20 mins just to her the amount she owed them, it started at £700.

  14. Hi right where to begin?

My wife has received a letter today about an outstanding council tax bill from our previous address from 2008-09'.

Little did we know we owed them £72 as we moved out in the Feb 09'. Last year she had a letter and phoned the council and they said in the end they owed her money but it was difficult to give her the money back as she had now married me and her name had changed (bearing in mind they were sending the letter to her in her old name and apparently have taken her to court for the amount in her maiden name which had changed to mrs). She thought that the matter was closed until today we get a letter from the bailiff for £269. Now she phoned the council again now and told them about her previous conversation and if she new we would of paid it, but we got no letter at our new address so knew nothing of it , but they said because we did not get our post re-directed tough we must pay the bailiffs.

Do i pay them or can i do something as they sued her in a wrong name and she new nothing of it.

    Cheers for any feedback.

  15. I am also in the market for a external hard drive, I have 1TB on my iMac and I don't like having that all filled up.

My question is, is I am looking for 4TB, maybe more as I do a lot of full 1080p HD video in 24Mbps so 1TB aint a lot, will I be better of or safer by maybe getting 2 or more external hard drives instead of just one, that way if one fails I wont loose the lot.

  16. Mmmmmmm, dinner.

I went to the chinese cash and carry to buy some squid for fishing when I noticed some packets of dried jellyfish on the shelf next to the beef jerky, I thought the hell with it, I am trying that. I am not joking when I say it tastes like chicken.

When I am around that area again I will buy some more

  17. I would like to watch the cricket world cup, rugby super 15, tri-nations and the rugby world cup, but Sky seems to have bought all the fun, I have Virgin and don't want to be paying Sky's silly prices.

    :o

So please tell me there is a way of watching these with relative quality somewhere on the web. There is one or two sites that show some of the games live but I cant watch them as I am not watching from that Country. :hmm:

Also I have noticed even if I subscribe to Sky sports through Virgin it will still be no good as Sky seem to put a lot of the games on the red button and you need the Sky box for those, which seems to be most of it

Any help will be greatly appreciated :D

  18. Ok, How about this, its just a couple of miles outside Liverpool.

    Drama at the Dee

A dramatic natural event can be witnessed this month as Spring tides are due to inundate RSPB Dee Estuary Nature Reserve, at Parkgate.

Spring tides only happen on a handful of occasions each year. If the weather conditions are right, they are so high that they actually flood the whole saltmarsh.

This natural occurrence becomes a real wildlife spectacle as the more secretive birds and creatures that normally live there, like water rails, snipe, harvest mice, and water voles, flee the rising tide and are brought closer inland.

This in turn can attract the most amazing birds of prey, like ghostly grey hen harriers, gliding short-eared owls, and high speed merlins as well as the majestic grey herons and little egrets who take advantage of the situation.

Paul Brady, RSPB Visitor Development Officer, said: “Watching the tide surge towards you with the Welsh hills as a stunning backdrop is thrilling. Add to that the sights and sounds of huge flocks of birds, along with the excitement of expert predators doing what they do best, makes it an experience to remember.”

He added: “The wildlife can come so close on these tides that one year someone actually had a bird that’s normally very hard to see, a water rail, hiding in his rucksack!”

In the winter, the marshland of the Dee Estuary is an internationally important habitat for a vast numbers of ducks and wading birds.

These free RSPB High Tide Bird Watch events are running on Saturday 19 February at 10 am, Sunday 20 February at 11 am and Monday 21 February at 11.30 am.

Everyone is welcome to come along to the Old Baths Car Park, Parkgate, where expert staff and volunteers will be on hand to showcase the action.

Further details of these events can be obtained from www.rspb.org.uk/parkgate or by phoning 0151 336 7681.

A so called 'polite robber', has been filmed on CCTV holding up a petrol station in Seattle.

The robber, who appears to be armed with a gun, asks the cashier, "Could you do me a favour? Empty the till for me please and put it right here. I am robbing you sir."

A man is currently being questioned about the offence by the police.

Watching that you almost cant help but feel sorry for this guy  still it's not the right way to go.
