  1. FIRST i have two shoulders like everyone else, and have not said which one does it matter? Secondly what i am trying to achieve is to find an air rifle that is as light as possible,as portable as possible, and hopefully as comfortable as possible, not to be used straight away, but when physically in a better position to do so.I am not going to be daft enough to attempt to carry / use a HW 100 for example as that is a weighty gun. If public transport was an issue i would not have included it in my post,an in depth list of my injuries is no-one else's concern, unless of course your medically qualifed, other replies have mentioned other ideas for carrying a gun which would enable me not to have to use a backpack,i only mentioned a backpack because its the first thing i thought of it was''nt set in stone.I just put the basics of what i am looking to try to achieve and not have to go into to much detail. And no i have no plans to illegally withdraw cash from my bank lol. "i would'nt be able to carry the bags of cash" £££$$$.
  2. Hi, thanks for the replies the one that stood out for me was the falcon lighthunter, does anyone know how long it is?. I might aswell ask on here before i do a search. Thanks again Rich.
  3. Hi, apart from the Air Arms TDR what other air rifle's are short enough to carry in a backpack. My reasons are concealment on public transport,(a gun bag's shape stands out). The reduction in weight (i have had recent shoulder surgery, and then a car accident, unable to drive for a long time yet, plus a long recovery process). I have noticed the Brocock Contour and that looks about the shortest, are there any UK companies that do BULLPUP versions of air rifles. Thanks Rich.
  4. Hi,if i should need to use Royal mail,to post an air rifle, using their special delivery option, which automatically insures items, for upto £500,what should the description of the parcel be,should i state it is an air rifle?.Also should the air cylinder be empty, the reason i ask this is,my brother-inlaw let his guns air go to low,and then had problems re-filling it with a pump,so any potential buyer could have the same problems, and should any air rifle have the action seperated from the stock, scope removed etc.any advice welcome thanks Rich.
  5. thanks for the replys,my decision is on hold for the moment. All down to whether i lose my only shooting permission, waiting on a decision on who has the authority to allow shooting,so everything up in the air at the moment, even though i have been shooting the permission for 18 months.
  6. Thanks for the replies,my decision on selling is on hold for the moment.
  7. thanks for the replies,my gun is in immaculate condition, like new and is the beech stock version,i was just thinking that if i do advertise it for sale on here or elsewhere, that due to the fact it has quite a few extras, already included, which if someone is looking to start out shooting, would probably like me add to their kit as you go along, but be able to get a set up in one purchase instead.I have looked around, and think £250 is way too low,for just the gun with no scope yes,but with scope and everything else,(the gun bag is £45)Deben lamp new £135 Ledray GL4 £60-£70 approx, plus the other bits, and too be truthful i don't want to over price and have no interest. But i don't want to get tucked up either.Do i have to state a price in the for sale section,or just because i am asking advice can someone make an offer due to the fact that they have read this section of the forum?
  8. Hi just after some advice on what to price my airrifle and accessories, here goes. 1.Air Arms S410 carbine .22 (not FAC),comes with. 1 x magazine. Hawke 3x9x50 IR scope.with a set of flip up scope covers. Ledray Gl4 lamp.(with box). BSA Tactical gun bag in black, shoulder strap, and rucksack style straps, the gun fits in this with the lamp attached to scope. Fitted with studs and black sling. Air Arms silencer. Very accurate, gun likes RWS hollowpoint pellets,Rabbits don't. Very good condition, this is my baby,if i sell it will be a sad day. I am after advice on selling this as a package, and really do not want to split. I also have a Deben atom pro 12v lamp, with box the lamp seems a bit yellow to me don't know if the bulb is on it's way out or if i am used to the brighter Ledray. And also a jack pyke medium stealth jacket and trousers,3 telescopic hide poles with kick plates, with pole bag (new never used),and one brand new stealth net again (never used),these can also be added to the package.FTF only will cost a bomb to post, was unsure of where to post this so my apologies to the MODS if its wrong.Any advice very much appreciated.Cheers Rich.
  9. Thanks for all your replies.
  10. Hi bob i have a Deben tracer atom tactical, this has stock mounted switch/dimmer control,12v 2Ah nickel metal hydride battery pack (goes in a pouch on your rifle butt, mains charger, butt stock sleeve,25mm mount,100m beam.Battery run time 1hour more if not used on full power, also a red filter, and weighs 135g,new price for these can be up to £130.To me the bulb seems a bit yellow, but i have been using an led style lamp for a while now,so either i am no longer used to the lamp or it might need the bulb replacing at some point,i do have this advertised elsewhere for £60 to £65 posted if your interested let me know cheers Rich.In original box,and do the sale through paypal.
  11. My neighbour has got a pet rabbit,so that is part of the problem, and the house the other side is not looked after, the back garden has been left to go wild, there is not really any need for a backstop my garden is 100ft long,50ft wide, what i ment by my neighbour not having a problem is,she knows i shoot, but i have read other posts on here about anti shooters complaning about people shooting in their gardens and phoning the law,i don't need to go onto anyone else's property, also as a council tenant do i have to have permission to shoot my air rifle, because at the end of the day it's the councils property.
  12. Hi all over the last couple of days i have started to see rats in my garden (large ones). My house is a council house,so one phone call, and they would send the environmental chap round, with his poison but my wife and i are dubious of that course of action due to the fact we have 4 kids,so what other methods could they use?.I want to shoot them my neighbours have no problem with that, but where do i stand legally with the council, could i report the problem to them and offer to deal with rats myself,as long as all shots are kept within my boundries,i could just shoot them and no one would know, but i am responsible, and want to do the right thing.I look forward to reading any suggestions thanks rich.
  13. Hi,is there anyone in south wales, with woodland permission, able to offer the opportunity, for me to tag along with them, with an air rifle only, targeting grey squirrels.I have insurance,am a responsible, respectful person for peoples property and whatever quarry presents itself.I have 8 years army service under my belt,i am only able to shoot at night,at the moment, but in the future i would love to introduce my two eldest boys to shooting.I shoot on golf courses only at the moment, air rifle only and in return for some daylight shooting,i will try to arrange some bunnie lamping on the course in return. Thanks Rich.
  14. Thanks for your reply, appreciate your comments,Cheers Rich.
  15. Can anyone help,or offer some advice, would very much appreciate any feedback,i am close too calling it a day and selling everything.
  16. Hi all and a happy new year,i am hoping for some help in finding some tree rat/rat shooting in the south wales area.I have a couple of rabbit shoots on golf courses, but for safety reasons they are night time/lamping only.I have put the hours and mileage in,trying totally unsucessfully, for some sort of daylight shoot, one farmer had me calling back, every month for over a year, and then refused me permission.I only use a pcp air rifle,i am insured. As for a lot of people like myself,i am fully aware of the difficulties of gaining landowners trust, but i love my shooting, and have invested a lot of money, and when possible have upgraded my gear.I live in an area surrounded by forestry commission woodland, with squizzers everywhere,it looks like they are having a party most of the time, really frustrating.HELP! CHEERS Rich.
  17. cheers lads,i should have mentioned i am only using an air rifle,on land 50 feet from my front door, which is at the bottom of a valley. Its my house a road then walk down an embankment onto the land, the other side of the valley is forestry commission, but a small river seperates both.Anyway i have only lived here 10 months, and there is a definate flight path that crows are using, right up the valley in front of my house,so crow decoys are on order and an owl decoy,Theres also jays the odd magpie and pigeon and lots of rats. Thanks for the replys appreciated.
  18. Hi,there everyone,i have just bought a stealth net,and 4 poles, are 4 poles enough for a hide or do i need to buy more? Also, how many do most people use. Thanks Rich

    gun lamp

Hi everyone,i have just bought a Ledray Gl4,and red and amber filters, the amber filter is not very Amber, there's not much difference to the change of colour from white to Amber.Does anyone here use this type of lamp,if so how do you get on with it??.I have'nt been able to use mine in anger yet.Hopefully 2morrow night..Cheers Rich
  21. I use an s410k,and my brother-in-law uses a S510,the biggest difference apart from mine having a bolt and his a side lever,is the noise difference. My gun is lovely and quiet, the S510 shrouded barrel is nowhere near as quiet,Also secretly my brother-in-law prefers my gun,but won't admit it.And if money was no object i would keep my gun and buy either a Rapid or HW100.

    slings

Thanks for the replys,i went to my local gun shop this morning, had studs, sling and fitting for £18.I chose a fairly wide black padded sling, which came with quick release swivels, there was no price on it so just got given a total price for everything off the top of the owners head.I always use this shop and even did work experiance there when i was in school (wanted to be an armourer/ gunsmith in the army, but did a different trade instead).

    slings

Hello everyone, how many people with carbine air rifles fit slings to them,i used to have one on an AA S400 classic, but now have a 410 carbine. And what is the best sling to go for,I,ve just got a new permission, which is basically half a mountian side,so fitting a sling is going to be a good option comfort wise.Cheers Rich
  24. I am insured, first thing i did after buying my gun,i am with BASA,and my brother-in law comes with me after rabbits when he's on leave from the army.So thanks for the replys, will try and get in touch with someone from the forestry asap fingers crossed, cheers rich
  25. Hello, everyone is it possible to obtain permission to shoot squirrels,on forestry commission land, due to the damage these tree rats do to trees, and wildlife.I live in south wales and in the middle of the afan forest park.My house is surrounded by the woodland.I could literally leave my back garden and walk into the woods, and almost the same at the front of my house,it's driving me nuts,(no pun intended).Cheers Rich.
