  1. Got a set of Green Leopard ones 4 years ago at the CLA last time it was at Belvoir. Think they cost me about £85 with the accoustic filters in them (so you can hear people talking to you but they stop the louder noises).

Well worth every penny, would recommend them highly. Trouble is I have no excuse for ignoring the wife now!!!!!!!

  2. DaveK, glad to see your a self confessed expert in the subject!

The information I posted is how it was explained to me by my firearms licencing officer. If he (or indeed my interpretation of what was said) is incorrect, thats fine. I along with 99.999999999999999999999999999% of the human race am NOT infaliable.

As to moving country, how about YOU learn some manners while I`m away?!

  3. Gents, just to clear up something. If you are out and about with a firearm (be it a rifle or a shotgun the law is the same in this respect) and you are NOT in "posession" (that is to say it is your pocket or your vehicle if you have it parked in car park at a shooting ground or in a layby or where ever near by) you can be arrested and charged with ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF A FIREARM. That, as far as I`m aware carries a maximum penalty of 7 years behind bars.

During a renewal period when your cert is away, provided you old on is still valid you have no issues. If it expires BEFORE your new on arrives then you are once again TECHNICALLY without a cert (be it for section 1 or section 2 firearms, it makes no difference really). If you have ANY firearms that require a licence at that point at your home address or in your possession you are then, once again, TECHNICALLY in illegal possession of a firearm. I know that my Firearms Officer is very helpful in this respect and would argue the case that, provided you have your reciept for renewal you are covered and can continue as if you had the new cert in hand. I personally wouldn`t go out without a valid cert and find out, just incase!

Weather the "I have my renewal reciept so I`m covered" sketch would stand up in court is a different matters!

As to the point of the database, that is there to vaildate the authenticity of your cert, NOT as an alternative to having it with you. No cert in your possession = illegal possession of a firearm.

Having been stopped at stuipd o`clock on my way out wildfowling and asked to produce my cert there and then, and having had a very nice conversation with the boys in blue and the firearms officer about this very subject, take it from me, if your off out with a firearm make sure your cert is with you or, at the very least, in the car/van/4x4 etc you are using. There is nothing to say it has to be in your pocket if your out and about, but I doubt many of the boys in blue would wear it being in the house if you are miles away.

  4. Johnny, having troubles with the computer and can`t seem to reply to your PM! My email is aubw61@dsl.pipex.com

Don`t have anything personally but can put you on to a guy I got my part trained lab from who`s in Doncaster and is (as far as I`m concerned anyway!) absolutely fantastic!

If your interested please email me.

    Cheers

  5. Anyone got a transK9 B4 dog box (the one to fit a Discovery Series 2, Toyota Landcruiser, Fiat Diablo, Vauxhall Zafira, Tooper LWB & Mitsubishi Shogun) they want to part with?

Based in Cheshire but can travel to collect or arrange courier if required. Fed up with dog hair and mud in the back of my truck now so "she who must be obeyed" has decreed I must get one!

    Thanks in advance

    Matt
