  1. we started off getting 100 plus most days with nets ,hard work ,then bolting them & shooting them in deep heather warrens ,got up to the 600 mark then the deep snows came & really sorted them out ,bodies everywhere ,its a real shame to see so many dead rabbits ,done some small farms ,stopping at 10 rabbits ,lots of does in kindle now so tomorrow may be the last day although the farmers want them killing by any means ,seen baby rabbits as early as december so it all depends on the weather , looking for new land for the new season as the snows have really done for a lot of bunnies ,it may take a while for them to recover this time ,nature is a great leveller ,pete

  2. I have a cock and a hen left. You can have them both if you want. I have been giving them away as I have less time for them. The hen is 3 years old and the cock 7.

sure thing pepe ,if you pm me some details i will get back to you cheers pete

  3. Try the CCBA (colour canary breeders association) or similar canary breeders association for local breeder , you should be able to find somebody , depends what you want as well some are more expensive than others

  5. After rereading his post starts with I have bolted 3 charlies and then changes to my boy has bolted three charlies.

    Strange OTH

if you take the time to read my post properly ,i was out with my son ,not blaming my son , i cant check every hole we net when some warrens have over 80 nets to set like i say hes learning ,or maybe i should let him sit down while i crawl about under briars & hedges for an hour to make sure every hole is checked & nets set properly ,ive ferreted over 600 rabbits in the last 5 weeks ,how many have you had

  6. exactly cranfield , its never intentional to try to bolt them with ferrets ,my top workers are far to valuable to be chopped by charlie, all ferreters know the value of a good ferret as for me mine are priceless , seriously though i reckon a good guaranteed worker is never for sale , i can tell when charlies at home ,its just that im letting my son learn the ropes ,hes not clicked all the signs yet & its a revalation for him when they bolt ,now hes learning the signs of when a rat or stoat is at home by watching the ferrets behavior ,every trip out its a learning curve .hes doing well ,he can take over soon ,then i can retire (over my dead body ha ha ):sly:

  7. I decided to take the new 20-bore out, just walking around the fields, looking for the odd pigeon on the rape, poking through the snow.

Walked a good three miles or more, around all the hedgerows where I can shoot. Saw plenty of pheasants which was good, and the odd pigeon flighting from the bushes, way too far away for a shot.

There was nothing on the rape though except 20 or so crows.

Then decided to have a mug of coffee and head back to a wooded area just in time for evening flight. By this time the temperature had dropped to -2C.

There were plenty of pigeons coming in to the wood, and I could have emptied a full box on No6s easily. But I never took a shot.

I couldn't bring myself to pull that trigger today... not with the temperatures as low as they were.

I know they are a damn nuisance, but after suffering three days of freezing temperatures, dire conditions through the night and having to scratch around for anything decent to feed on, I decided to show the poor ******* a bit of respect tonight.

Things will be different when it thaws

i know how you feel yesterday i had 2 lovely squirrels trashing my bird feeders ,house full of company admiring them ,same thing today except for no company :D my s410 ,2logun penetraters ,& some very full ferrets :good::)

  10. WHAT!? you blatently want to go down there and kick off mate the limit is 12lb/ft and as said they cannot force you into paying them to work on it. its like going to a garage and they see you have a bald tyre then cannot make you buy a new one as its illegal. it doesnt work that way. definate con artists this gun shop which one was it?

hi lets just say its a big one on the a6 out of stockport ,the kid behind the counter didnt even tell me what fp it was at ,just took it of us & wouldnt give back untill the shop had butchered it ####s spring to mind ,dont use or trust that shop mate

The fox is a wonderfull animal. It can adapt to different suroundings esily.

The fox is stunning to look at and always keeps itself clean.

However, because of the damage they do they must be CONTROLLED.

Note i said CONTROLLED not MASSACARED/BLASTED/EXTERMINATED.

They are a really wonderfull animal and they should get the respect of other animals such as pheasnts, because theyre just as noble as ano other organism.

I am a Gamekeeper and do controll foxes however if i get the opertunity to watch/study them do as long as they are not on my beat!

    BB

P.S. as ive sung the foxes praises about adaptibility, whats the betting of the fox shooting the rifle pic coming up?

To be fair I can say, yes I do hate foxes. Why?

Firstly when I was ~6-7 a fox got into my rabbits cage, killed it, tore it up and left it there all over the garden for me to find the next day, nice. Secondly, the urban foxes around my house are by far the biggest litterdroppers, every Tuesday morning the road is strewn with rubbish from torn up bags and tipped over bins that are left out for the early collection, and the noise they make is awful. My dog also contracted mange last year from a fox no doubt, costing us in excess of £100 treatment.

Do I even need to make a comment on the damage these ginger tossers cause to the meat/game industry?

I will conclude with saying, the only thing I would ever feed a fox is something laced with strychnine, but then each to their own I guess
