  1. my mate had a beretta that cracked straight across the action face, under a year old.

Not good. However this was't a 'knock Beretta thread'...this is a 25 year old gun and a bit of wear & tear is inevitable....cheers red dot/ips..I shall confirm issue once a 'smith has had a look but was thinking bent/broken sear(there is no rattle of a snapped bit)...

  2. Went to nearest supplier as was low on cartridges, the choice was poor so ended up with Lyalvale Supreme Game.I have avoided Lyalvale Express for 10 years as had issues with their clay loads and they would change a 'deformed batch'. Well blow me down these 'premium/expensive shells' whilst kill well literally blow bits of the OUTER casing up the barrel?!!......It was only when I got back and was counting the empties I noticed how worringly bad it was..I shall return both the offending box/empty cases and remainder of the slab. It cannot just be bad luck though that twice I have fault and both times it has been this respected manufacturer.....I am an old luddite so have no idea how to upload pictures but at least half an inch of outer casing has simply been blown up the tubes(and I don't mean the crimp)........verging on dangerous. These were their 30g 5s(it was that or plastic wad 8s and I dont shoot plastic).....I don't like 30g loads in a 20........it was fired throw a superior proofed 3 inch chamber so was not wrong cartridge in wrong gun reasons...........Has anybody else had this issue as I cannot believe it is just me?..Anyhow Lyalvale will be waiting more than 10 years this time before I use their product again.....

  3. If I fire bottom barrel 1st,which usually do top barrel wont fire.If select top barrel all is good and bottom will fire....am guessing this is a sear issue?Shall take it in for a service.Do any of you experts know the internal workings of a 686?..Although I am not a DIY type I would like to know what the fault is..thanks.

  4. if a compact/easy carry set ok I am v v impressed with Nikon......fantastic images/small & light.....think they were @ £180 so you can keep some change! Nikon know a thing or too as their cameras are damn good too......

  5. When 2 children name call in the playground it may end in a scraped knee, with these 2 psychopathic kids it is different.....I agree with above we are now being PR'd into thinking he has NUke capability(WMD) and that is a precursor to action...If the uS think they could take out all the Missile/Nuke capability with conventional warheads they probably will but the risks if they are wrong, and boy are they often wrong is v frightening.....I also don't think cutting off its head will help either.....this will play out as dictated by CHina....and that is probably a good thing.....as Trump is a big enough idiot to escalate this.......

  6. Shot old and new back to back yesterday out to 40M absolute max but most between 25M and 35M both in 32g 6 fibre (don't like littering)

The neŵ clear cased ones killed MUCH better than the ****ty black cased ones which as usual mostly resulted in runners, as did the express my buddy was using.

All shot through franchi affinity and briley extended half choke

Next step will be to compare them against my favoured dark storm game cartridge 30g in 6 (5)

Of course runners can happen with any cartridge...but would expect any 32g 6 to clean kill at 25-35 m. It may just be that certain cartridges work better in your gun etc but no doubt it will influence your cartridge purchases going forward....I must admit talk of pressures/speeds/wad types/shot size etc I think is hardly relevant on birds within such ranges..Does your sample 'trial' cover a few hundred shots or was it a handful of these v a handful of those?..Certainly if over a good number of shots it is a surprise that there is a noticeable difference.

  7. I guess if you are spending £125 per brace then falling for the latest copper coated/uranium tipped/pretty pictures of grouse in far away hills fits in........sat in a sodden hide with 1 leg gradually sinking into the brambles as I realise I have'nt charged my flapper battery in a damp Sussex hedge I'm not thinking tweed and high branding needed in my cartridge bag!!........
