  1. Travelling around the uk reporting on shoots I see a lot of this, though in 95 % of cases it can be avoided if the course setter has a clue as to what they are doing.... Tilt a trap away from a shooter and chances are that even if its shot early the debris will still be heading away from the peg.... There's always a risk with driven but theres really no excuse on any other target. Worst I have seen is a ground in Wiltshire where I got hit 3 times on 3 different stands!! Go to quite a few shoots in the US and Canada and have NEVER seen a stand where there was even a chance of it happening.....
  2. Hi folks, just an update for the Easter Weekend.... 3. Hi folks, just to let you know we have opened up a practice ground near Street in Somerset. Its got some nice terrain and we are running 5 stands and a flush to start with, targets are fun and friendly, so nothing a million miles away and very few edge on targets. Open this Friday and Saturday if anyone fancies coming along, we are open from 10-5 on both days though we would ask people to bring fibre wads only though we do have cartridges available to buy. Tea, coffee and biscuits are free and we do have a small clubhouse on site. For directions please click on the link below where you will find some maps with our location. Hope a few of you might pop along and say hi at some point. Don https://www.facebook.com/DoubleBarelledClayShooting?ref=hl

  10. just a quick update, its nearly ready, and I have found that putting shoots together works brilliantly as a diet plan, though Im not sure that the insomnia and greying hair is what i would call a plus point. Fortunately it looks as though the weather is improving towards the weekend though those coming down would be prudent to pack some wellies! For those that want to come and say hi, just look for the jabbering idiot with a nervous twitch curled up in a corner...no change there then..
  11. Hello Just to clarify the situation on cartridges, yes you do need to shoot with Fiocchi shells (avaiable at the event) in order to qualify for the cartridge prize fund. However this DOES NOT APPLY to those shooting in the Pro Class (AAA, AA A) who are free to choose their own brand of shells. However ALL SHELLS MUST BE FIBRE WADDED to avoid causing us problems with the landowner. Many thanks www.countrymanchallenge.co.uk
  12. Hi Folks, just to let you know about a completely new form of shooting discipline, which kicks off with the Countryman Challenge on 1st & 2nd of August at Park Farm near Wincanton in Somerset. How does 8 one man ten bird two or three trap flushes and 4 ten target air rifle layouts sound? (Air Arms rifles available to use if required) Its been designed so that top clay shooters wont win all the prizes as they have to enter in the Pro Class (AAA,AA and A Class shooters) whilst the majority of the 70+ prizes (over £11,000 in total) are in the Open, Juniors (Under 16),Ladies and parent & Child classes. Fancy shooting "decoyed pigeons" from a fully equipped hide, or tackling "Bolting rabbits" from the back of a 4x4? if the answers yes then this is the event for you! You can shoot on either saturday or sunday with start times of 9am, 12pm and 3pm and it costs just £38 for 120 targets (fibre wads only). There are also have a go stands on shotgun and air rifle, a Guerini pool shoot, The Phoenix Fast Fire running boar simulator and trade stands (UKShootwarehouse BASC, Easyhit, Gunseeker, Jack Pyke, and Promatic amongst others) For more details on how to enter, the prize fund, rules and any other questions you may have visit http://www.countrymanchallenge.co.uk
