  1. Just took a look at the HO guidelines for the deact AK 47, and apparently the bolt carrier rails must be welded.. So that's that out the window There shouldn't be a problem with a cheap airsoft gun replica but would've been nice to have an authentic one, not rubbish plastic. Oh well never mind, I could always add weights and stuff for a better feel If I do try it with the bb gun/paintball gun I'll post pics of the process if anyone is interested.. I'll have to find a broken one somewhere as I'm not going to fork out much though so if anyone has any ideas I'd locate something like that please give us a shout
  2. Yeah dan, basically the base model would be a deactivated AK 47, and the lighter would only ever be used in a house. It'd never be used outside and the barrel would still be blocked but enough room in the barrel to hold the cigs for ignition. Then it'd have a tiny wire mesh that would ignite the cigarette next to the barrel block.. Somebody must know the laws and be able to shed some advice, I thought it might be a grey area at first but now I'm thinking of all the paintball guns out there, full scale replicas of assault rifles, not with any kind of coloured markings to distinguish them from the real deal. Thinking that, I can't see how it would be in a different category to any other realistic looking bb gun?
  3. I thought it would be a bit of a grey subject which is why I brought it to pw, but I'm sure I have the tools to do what I need to do. The plan was to have a modified magazine (which I guessed I'd have to make for the 'caliber' (standard size cigs) and have a working bolt action that cycles the cigarette into the mock chamber with a heating element inside a blanked off barrel. The cannon shell is a good idea but I've kinda had my heart set on this project for a while now and want something completely original! ..plus being able to say I've done it too would be awesome!
  4. Hi all, Just wanted to see if anyone could help.. I wanted to make one of these for a while but I'm deciding to do it for a friend's birthday present. Just wanted to ask about the legality of making and giving one of these away.. It would be a scale replica if possible and before I went and wasted cash on one as I remember them being quite expensive, I thought it's best checking! Cheers all! P.S. I first posted this in the Crafts & DIY section, but being as I'm not really discussing the making bit, just asking the question, I think it's better off here. If any mods could please delete my thread in Crafts & DIY it'd be appreciated, thanks!

  6. you ground up your rabbit and fed him to your fish?
  7. Just make sure you don't crash and you're all good. Unfortunately this is the country we live in, also OP, Pass Plus is a bl**dy waste of money, and you find out right after you pay for it and get your first quote. You: "£2800, Christ! Are you putting down Pass Plus?" Insurance: "Uhhh.. Yeah, why not"

    Free audio books

Hi Will. I'd not mind £8 a month for a few downloads but I've had a quick look on the site and it says you get one download a month, am I reading it wrong? It probably won't be worth it for just standard length books though. Cheers for the PM anyway!! Was after Dean Koontz, Wilbur Smith, Stieg Larsson, I've got a few links now for some other sites which I'll check out when I get home which I think might've sorted me out. Cheers again for all the advice and PM's lads. Have a good day all!

    Free audio books

Ha, well it's not for me, a mate wants some stuff to listen to in the car, I've had a look and stumbled across some 'e-Books', frankly a bit discusted how they can charge a tenner for a bit of text on a computer.. that would probably dissapear if the computer needs to be formatted etc. No doubt audio versions will be the same price if not more! I never even concidered that, thanks for the advice! (How much do you think they would charge me for five minutes?) Cheers lads!

    Free audio books

Anyone know where I can get some DECENT audiobooks from well known Authers for free, maybe an App or something? I've looked for ages but to no avail It's for an iPod Touch to listen to in the car. Any ideas? Cheers PW!
  11. I had no idea, I was always told minimum 24" full stop. Sorry for the misinformation MZ, you're right about it not being very clear Thanks for the info Hornet
  12. You're right, minimum 24" on SGC + FAC. Shorter then 24" would be prohibited and only issued for an extremely good reason or not at all. Americans on the other hand are allowed 18" with no licence and if I'm right I think a shorter barrel then that would require a SBS short barrel permit. Either way you won't see anyone shooting clays/vermin with one in the UK.
  13. See! much better pattern at 80 yds, but try yourself a Mossy and you won't be dissapointed.. much better then a WINCHESTER , what was it an SX3? (No sound again, must be my Neanderthal brain not being able to work out how to use the speakers after so much time using an American gun) Yip, you can't go wrong with a good pump when your shootin' buckshot, boa (yeehaw)
  14. TBF I might be wrong, I think its more a matter of cartridge/gun/choke combination that determins pattern, especially with big shot like that.. I suppose I'd also be weary of putting a load of SG/LGs through a full choke if I had a purrdy gun like yours.. I'd probably be frightened the barrel would fly off. I don't worry about stuff like that with the mossy Sorry not equipped for doing a video (I know you don't believe me ), but I can tell you through experience that it's 1000% possible to get 4 pellets in a 10" target @ 35-40yds with 9 ball 00 :o
  15. Just watched with sound on a mates computer, pretty good result, only saw one neck hole when i watched with mute but I'll believe you I meant a rabbit cutout with SG.. or even better LG ..40 yds Oh yeah I would have used at least 1/2 choke with that buckshot!! Why'd you use cylinder!?
