    I recall taking a lovely arietta sidelock Xxl to well known english gun maker come gun room for a valuation the plumbey manager told me the barrels where to short and that it was just a cheep low qual spannish sxs He was quite aregent

     

    it was as new made in 1977 and only had 100 carts threw it in makers case with exceptional wood After leaving somewhat deflated I did my homework the same English gunmaker imports the same gun made by arietta and puts there name on it They cost some thousands of pound ? At no point did the manager mention this ? he did however insult my intelligence and offered me £*** for my gun

     

    Iv since sold that lovely little fine spanish sidelock for many times more than the £*** offered

     

    Don't let fashion and foolish soles put you of a good quality Sxs. short barrels are a joy to shoot with and will bring down most if not all the birds as well as a 30 inch cannon and with Style and elegance

    Hi the chap with the 410 kills pretty much everything out to 40!yard and iv seen him wipe the eye of many a heavy shot shooter and drop good pheasant at the foot of the chap on the next peg it's totally about pointing your gun in the wright place with confidence and not being stupid trying to shoot out of range birds

     

    I see and hear folks going on about killing at stupid distances or trying to and saying that they are shoot able at stupid ranges wasting carts and more to the point not dispatching what we need to remember is our sport is under threat and not killing cleanly is only ammunition for the anties

     

    Find a gun that you like and likes you and point it in the wright spot use whatever carts or gauge you feel confident with and just enjoy Don't get bogged down with all the bull that folks talk about long barrel short barrel choke load lead and so on just shoot and learn

Gun in the right direction and you use no six shot you will kill over decoys shooting 32 g will just make your shoulder sore and put a whole in your wallet iv shot thousands of pigeons with 28 gram of every make out there just get one that you like and cheep on the pocket all this talk of what cart and black golds I know a bloke that shoots a sxs 410 19 g kills everything

    I'd probably agree to point but horses for corses I shoot a al 48 with fantastic results it never jams no ports to clean and puts a smile on my face every time I also shoot a beretta 303 lovely gun but perhaps to nice as one needs be a little carful not to ding it the a 48 is a tool and it's been bashed on top of the truck knocked in the hide dragged against the ditch bank and so on there that good iv got three

    Right then I'm with you all the way on no hats and armsan are just as bad aka weblley ? If you want a bomb proof semi beretta 301'2'3 or a franchi al 48 they just do not go wrong if you. Don't try and put light loads threw them that is ! both guns will work just fine with 28g and above plenty of 48s on gun star at good price and a few beretta but most are over priced Iv a nice 48 with a knocked about wooden stock good action and good bluing fixed choke shoots just fine I'm now a RFD so no problem getting it to your local RFD if your interested pm me
