I'd put some oil in the barrel if the gun was going to be sat up for a while. always clean it out before firing though. If it's being used regularly I don't bother.

This is not right. I can't think what would cause it not to fit other then blocked or damaged thread. It's the same size as the choke you removed? Maybe you've been supplied with incorrect chokes.

I have one of these on a Sako Quad HMR, It fits flush with the heavy barrel which I really like. The only noise I get from the gun is the supersonic crack, in my opinion it's a really good bit of kit. It might be a bit more expensive then some but the quality is there. you wont get the same gas cutting as some of the cheaper ones on the market; so it will do more rounds. I guess it comes down to if you reckon it's worth the extra money. I wouldn't change mine.
