Morning Folks,
Looking for a keen reliable beater to join our team of beaters this season, with or without dog / dogs for a small friendly DIY syndicate shoot based near Burton on Trent, Staffordshire.Shoot dates for coming season not yet confirmed but we will be shooting the 1st Saturday in October and usually shoot every other Saturday through until the end of the season.
£20 a day and a drink on the guns in the local pub afterwards.
Thanks,
Jason

Hi Folks,
Anyone had any issues with them, now on my third pair since buying in November. The seam keep opening up just above the ankle, doesnt seem to be any glue in them?
Hoping the latest replacements last a bit longer!

Ok you got me I'm being a tart and buying a pretty ou for my game shooting.
Thinking now of chopping in the 686 rather than keep going between the two.

What are you looking to gain with the new gun?
If you want a side by side then they are mostly 28", lightweight and easy to load and carry, another O/U would be a strange buy unless you wanted a very light O/U. Generally people believe that shorter barrels are quicker handling, but less instinctive to shoot accurately. Not sure it's true, but that's the common belief. If you're going walked up shooting then a quick handling sxs is probably a better choice as it can be carried loaded but open easily without cartridges trying to fall out and will be light and quick handling. If you were going to be shooting high birds in Devon a heavy 32" barrelled O/U might be a more natural choice.
Thanks for the advice Tim, I'm off to test a couple of guns this weekend and see how I get on.

Hi Folks,
Quick Q, currently have a 686e with 30in barrels that I use for everything Clays / Game / Pigeons etc and am looking to buy another gun so I can use the 686 just for the clays.
If I bought the new gun with 28 barrels just for game / pigeon would I struggle going between the two? Is there much differer that I would notice? Only been shooting 3 yrs so may be a daft question but thought i'd better ask.
Cheers

Looking for some advice!
I should say from the start that when it comes to the Beretta vs Browning argument,I have always been in the Beretta camp.
I have a 'big' birthday coming up & have been promising myself for the last 3 years I would splash out & get myself a 687EELL. I've never wanted anything else.
Just when the piggy bank is starting to look like it might be worth starting to look around as I cant afford a new one, out of the blue I saw the new round action Guerini Evo Ellipse at Newark last year, tried it at the Midland Gamefair & hit everything I aimed at with it. I have been 'seduced' by this new vision.
I could get a new one for the price of a second hand Beretta.
Someone who has one please tell me they are rubbish so I can go back to dreaming about the EELL.
Thanks for any help.
what did you buy in the end? As have the same dilemma myself. Either 687 EELL / Maxum / Powell Phoenix

POSITIONS FILLED
Morning Folks,
As above looking for some keen reliable beaters with or without dogs for a small friendly syndicate shoot

Great read, thanks guest1957
Years ago I had a sore knee for months and months and every so often a boil would come up full of puss. Eventually following my usual squeezing to relive it a flippin huge Blackthorn came out point first !! Body must have turned it round to expel it !
Get the same symptoms as blackthorn if I get spiked with a huge shrub in the garden, same structure as blackthorn but semi evergreen with small white flowers / berries so watch out folks.
