  1. yeah i thought so to, think il take a run out this weekend and see it , test drive etc, i think this could be the one as i have looked at several of the same year but they all seem to have 80000 plus on the clock and going for a similar price.
  2. hi everyone , iv narrowed my search down to a few now and i am considering this one , in your opinion is this a good buy. Suzuki Grand vitara 2.0 td , 54 plate ,21507 miles only , looks very clean for £4,480. its from a garage and he assures me there is full service history. What do you think . Peter
  3. iv been searching the auto trader for anything near me , so far iv seen a few suzuki grand vitara and the nissan xtrail , it seems to be between them so far , are there any pro's and con's on these 4x4. iv seen a few l200 but at my price range i think they are a bit beaten up. i would be happy with either the suzuki or the nissan but which is best and deisel or petrol. iv got to get this right as once iv spent my cash its to late.
  4. yeah , i like the jap stuff, always seem pretty reliable, just dont want to buy another pig in a poke like the kia , what about the L200 and nissan x trail,or the honda crv , there seems to be a lot of them for sale. Peter
  5. i dont know about the rav , my mates recon there for hair dressers  i thought aboutn the freelander but reviews say they are ****, i was thinking about a vitara maybe

  11. hi there , i went out today for my second pigeon decoying day, today i got 6 birds but it should have been 3 times that,i missed a lot due to i think my poor gun mount and i was trying to shoot with both eyes open as i thought that was the right thing to do , i eventually closed or squinted the non aiming eye and BANG i downed everything almost, lessons and clays next week as i dont want to start with bad habits and get them ingrained in my shooting.at least my days decoy the pigeons down to shoot with the air rifle paid off as i drew plenty birds in ,so i must be doing that ok .im going to get a turbo flapper though .no one said this shooting lark would be easy . any day shooting is a good day though. Peter
  12. hi there mate, i know exactly how you feel ,i have a permission close to my house and its constantly poached , i was walking the dog one day and seen the bloke with a lurcher and air rifle ,i casually asked the guy if he had permission he says yeah mate , i know the farmer, i later phoned the farmer and he assured me no one else has permission,i have seen him many times and warned him off but it seems he and his son just do as they want , i have even been told to watch myself in case they find out where i stay. i dont really care , i just ****** me off that i took the time to go around and get permission yet they just go where ever they want.I think you have just been unlucky , dont let them put you off helping people out and let them spoil it for others as your obviously a decent bloke and trying to help people out, have a few more beers and put it down to experience .happy hunting. Peter
  13. Well iv made a bouncer and im going to try it tomorrow, i used one of the flexible rods from an old tent ,and fitted 3 prongs of steel on the end to secure the bird to ,worth a try i recon i also have 6 fud decoys and 5 prodecoys so i will see if i can improve on lest weeks tally , i may set up in another area aswell, where i saw a lot of birds dropping into last week, provided the cow's are nowhere to be seen in that field . I also think iv got the flight line or at least one of them sorted out . Peter
  14. hi there , im from clackmannanshire , central scotland .
  15. everything i know i have learned from this site haha, im getting there slowly , im sure i will improve every week, i just want to get there quickly ,il just keep bashing away . i find that the lessons i learn the hard way are remembered .
  16. hi there , yeah i checked that out and after the £120 for the rotary and flapper i still need the hypa decoy things for the rotary and the battery and chargers, and a timer for the flapper . thats the best part of £200 i recon . think the Hw97k is gonna have to go.
  17. Hi there , im new to shotgun shooting but been shooting air rifles for a while now, i used to put out a few decoys and hope the pigeons would land or sit in a tree and i could pick them off with i must say limited success, i had my first outing with the shotgun for pigeons at the weekend and noticed the birds going over my decoys to a field where a small flock had gathered , i did manage to get 4 birds but i think i could have had many more if there was movement in my pattern. my question is do you recommend flappers and rotary and bouncers and will i reap the rewards with these tools as i have priced these items and they are not cheap i recon i will need the best part of £200 to get everything ,which means i may have to sell my HW97k to fund this ,am i better just sticking to the decoys or should i take a leap of faith and go for it. Your input and advice would be appreciated . Peter
  18. thanks for the encouragement guys,i can see my budget getting increased already,im after a turbo flapper next, i recon i could have pulled in a lot more birds if i had one, the pigeons were thinking about coming in to my pattern but were landing in the other field where a larger flock had amassed ,but i will just keep adding to my kit until i get all the neccesary tools ,thats part of the fun and challenge i think ,getting the birds to come in without a clue ,im itching to get back out now. Peter
  19. Had my first outing with a shotgun today, i just recently got my cert and i am still looking for my first gun, the farmer who's ground i was shooting on kindly offered me one of his guns for the day.i set up a hide and placed out my decoys and waited ,in the first hour i had 3 pigeons for 3 shots so i was well chuffed ,this was pretty slow as there are not massive numbers there just now . i managed to add another pigeon and a crow in the next cpl of hours ,so packed up and headed home. not a great bag but i was more than happy.great day out and the beginning of a sharp learning curve.
  20. yep , i see where your coming from mate , i know the 32gr gave a fair old dunt aswell , as long as it drops the target i dont mind ,i will see what i can get tomorrow , i forsee a sharp learning curve approaching hahah
  21. hi , i did look at the them but i have read that the fibre wad performs less than the plastic wad , i cannot comment if this is true or not as i have no experience ,but it mentioned the spread i think , what is the recoil like on these , i would happily try anything. Peter
  22. hello again mate, the gun is a laurona o/u, realy nice condition and the stock is straight and as im a lefty its comfy to shoot, i tried the clays and will buy diffrent carts for that but for hunting etc do i just look for the best deal at the time or do i pick a brand and weight /gr and stick with that .i did notice nthe 32gr had a lot more grunt than the clay carts
  23. hi there , i have just got my shotgun cert and the farmer is letting me try out a gun he may be selling, i dont want t use his cartridges and was wondering what everyone else uses. i used his shells the last time i went out with it and they were 32gr express no6 70mm , what do you recommend and how much can i expect to pay. Cheers Peter
  24. hey , thanks for the heads up , il give the shops a call and see what they have , i was abit unsure about buying something from the gun trader etc without having shouldered it first . my search goes on . Cheers
  25. im in central scotland , i can shoulder the guns in the shops but only the clay range has a facility to try the gun out , not a lot to chose from so far, i have seen a few on the internet but i dont think i can buy a gun from there without at least holding it before hand ,its the usual sinario, as soon as i spend my money the perfect gun will come along haha
