  1. My mrs can provide these courses for anyone interested www.smart-training-solutions.co.uk she can be contacted at: christine@smart-training-solutions.co.uk
  2. Hi HDAV It went well thanks. I didn't alter things a great deal to be honest. I'm going to do similar things next time I set up but with an overhead looper. Probably want to shoot that one at the apex before it starts dropping!
  3. If you use the low incomer always have it as your second bird ' cause you don't want clay bits heading towards a loaded second barrel. If you are having a simultaneous pair always put the extra pairs on this stand it avoids queues. from Auntie. 2 top bits of advice, thanks for that. The first one i wouldn't have thought of
  4. Thanks HDAV, I was considering butting a stake in the ground to shoot the rabbit before. Nothing to tricky but something that is in the back of your mind before you get in the cage. I was thinking of trying to combine the manual traps with on report autos as i find the flight of simo pairs off a manual trap very unpredictable. I was also thinking of putting on a teal but turning the trap 90 degrees so the bird was edge on. I prefer sky birds myself but we do struggle for gradient to get much hight on things Al the best
  5. Thanks chaps. I've seen upside down clays thrown before but find them a bit gimmicky to be honest. Never thought of putting a midi inside a standard clay, i might give that a go and see what results it gives. How do you get a clay to curl of an auto trap. Do you set it on an angle? We do have some tilt and turn bases but not all of them. Thanks
  6. I've been invited to help set up my local hay bale shoot. It's 50 bird sporting with access to 10 auto traps, two of which are looper/rabbits. They also have 3 or 4 manual traps. There is a gradient to the shoot, but it isn't the steepest. They don't have access to any lifts or cherry pickers. What kind of combinations do you guys like shooting and any suggestions you could make would be welcomed. Many thanks
  7. Thanks HDAV, "The primary concern will be that no noise nuisance is going to be created by the shoot and other considerations such as the direction of shooting, proximity of housing and public places, duration and repeat frequency of the shoot will also be considered." I'm assuming that if your in the middle of nowhere you could probably shoot back to back weekends. Might be different if there is a house or two nearby though.
  8. Thanks for your input guys, nothing is ever easy is it. Probably not a bad thing to be honest, i'd be livid if someone set up 8 stands at the back of my house and i couldn't do anything about it. Shaun, do you know the type or brand of the clays you use? If you have a web link that would be fantastic. I'm assuming they're a couple of pence per target cheaper? Thanks for your input (Sorry, more expensive! Less work more sleep!)

  10. Thanks Ste, I did know about plaswad, thanks for that. Is the thinking with the roller that it would break the clays up and press them into the ground so grazing sheep wouldn't be able to eat them from the surface? atb
  11. Most hay bale shoots seem to shoot every fortnight under the 28 day rule. Does anyone know if you could use the 28 days in consecutive weeks, ie every sunday for 28 weeks? Also is land used for shooting suitable for grazing or are livestock in danger of eating and swallowing clay fragments? Are clay fragment bio degradable and if so do you know how long they take to break down? They look really unsightly especially orange targets. Could you flail over them or mow the area to break them right down? Any input would be much appreciated Many thanks
  12. Hi I am looking for a patch of ground in or around the Knutsford area to run my dog on. I've recently moved to the area and I am struggling to find somewhere to use a dummy launcher and starting pistol on. I really want to make sure the dog is rock steady to shot and fall before the season starts. Any offer would be greatly appreciated, I'd only want to use it probably one a fortnight. Many thanks
