  1. How they can call it a race. Some glaciers move quicker.

The highlight for me is seeing them parading their trophy wives and straight outa the 50's all American children in the popularity contest.

I love watching the 50s trophy wife Bill being paraded! It's the best democracy money can buy! I wouldn't worry too much who wins the senate and congress are pretty mixed and will stop some of the more silly nonsense being spouted out by the candidates. The whole process is unnecessarily dragged out. That's America for you, they just haven't realised that bigger or longer doesn't always mean better. Its the culture of 'Super size everything'. You get more on your plate, but the ingredients are c**p.

  2. The UK will appeal.

There was a dissenting opinion on the UN panel.

The UK respects the rule of law, which is why we won't be dragging him out of sovereign Ecuadorian territory.

Let him stay there as long as he likes.

When he comes out extradite him.

The irony of a fugitive from the law detaining himself in a central London building is bemusing.

  3. Oh, and last thing UD I think some have suggested writing letters, or going back for a meeting etc. Absolutely do no do this under any circumstances unless you are a trade union member and exercise your right to be accompanied by a rep from your central branch. Or a trusted colleague if you are not in a trade union, and make sure every note is written down. If your employer seeks a meeting do like wise.

  4. I swear it's two years you can get shut of staff.

I can issue temporary contracts (3months) for up to 2 years then I have to issue a permanent contract.

This is a different issue. The two year thing is to do with redundancy entitlements. An employer can issue temporary contracts for as long as they like, but after the two years are gone the employee is considered by law to have full redundancy entitlements no different to any other. So, custom and practice determines they are equivalent to a permanent member of staff in the eyes of the law.

UD is asking a different question. An unfair dismissal claim is not contract dependent. Although in this case it seems that there is a question now being raised on the subject of gross misconduct. The case needs to be compelling to have legs. And the risk of being fixed for any legal costs incurred by the employer at tribunal should UD not win is something that really requires sound counsel from a good employment solicitor.

  5. OK, so here's the score UD. First, your claim is unfair, not constructive dismissal. This a procedural claim. I.e. the process by which you where removed was deliberately designed to do so and targeted.

Second. You said there was a clear bias. The question here is on what basis. Do you simply think it is last in first out? Or was it something else, I.e. your age etc.... If it was the latter then the case is discrimination. The time you were in the job is largely irrelevant to your employment rights? However the clock is ticking to take action and so you should seek legal advice. Not on here! Hope that helps.

  6. Last day of the year. So i had an afternoon walking around a nice piece of ground. It was great to see birds about the place. And as usual, once the thickest parts were being traversed the woodcock started to show. 4 shot and quite a few missed along the way. Ended up with 13 pigeons as well. It was very windy, so every one was well deserved. The legs were sore last night. You wouldnt need to worry about the gym if you walked through that place a couple of times a week! ? A real gem. Wild country that doesn't see human feet from one year to the next.

  7. I eat them all unless there is a lot of meat damage, and that may only be one breast, but even it they are torn up a bit they still make good biltong.

Edit: Sometimes there are tiny, and I mean really small, white grubs just under the skin. Mostly they scrape off with a knife - they won't hurt you but can look a bit grim. I never draw them so I don't check the liver but If they are healthy looking and have no obvious injuries (other than a fatal gun wound!) then they are fine to eat in my book

I think those are flat fly larve. Funny I never see them on birds in the winter? Also rarely see flat fly's on dead birds at the this time of year? Just skin them. They wash off.
  8. Similar happened here two years ago, thousands of pigeons on un harvested wheat and I mean thousands, farmers says don't shoot the field. His thoughts are that while they are there his osr is safe, can't fault his logic but it was soul destroying to watch

    Fielddweller

I have three fields close by just like this. They are unharvested wheat. They are full of pigeons, crows pheasants and a ungodly amount of rats. Two roads either side, dozens of horses in a field at the bottom and three houses surrounding them. Nearly impossible to shoot I would imagine, so I haven't even tried to seek permission. Even if the land owner said yes, negotiating the politics of everything else surrounding it would require the UN. I don't even bother going to look anymore. Soul destroying. FN you need to make a concerted effort to find out who has that field and get in there.

  9. Hello all

My last post was regarding being new to shotgun shooting (always used air guns)

Since then I've managed to gain permission on a really good/big rapeseed oil field with a tree patch dead centre. Plenty of cover!

The only thing is there were no pigeons feeding on it. I set my hide up right beneath a flight path which meant I got 4 pigeons which I was well happy with. They were all full up with peas! They didn't seem to bother about my decoys (12 flocked half shells and 2 floaters) just flew right over my head. Any tips to get them a bit more interested?

Also very quickly. What's the law regarding a friend who has a licence using my other shotgun if he is with me? He doesn't own one for himself

    Thanks

Go and find the only pea field in the land and you will shoot a ton 😁
  10. Again. how do we know it's illegal was he asked if he had a FAC ? no. op stated it was illegal and that's taken as verbatim. good ol PW. Hang him, get police to stake out the supermarket 24/7.

The gentleman who started the post said it was illegal. And since he was there listening to the conversation I am assuming his post is accurate. If not then you have a point. Still don't think it is good idea to walk around the shops with a gun in a bag, legality aside.

  11. Great time

absolutely. It's been a while since I spent the afternoon walking a bit of rough ground.

Cannot beat a nice mixed bag.

Indeed. Nearly enough there for a multi bird roast. Problem is, bar the pheasant they are all about the same size. The woodcock were in particularly good nick. They must have found it easy this year with the mild weather.

  12. The Falklands may well be an issue very soon? No Aircraft or Carriers? Oops!

There will be if he gets his way. Mr Corban also thinks we should discuss the Falklands with Argentina. I'm not sure what he thinks we should talk about, because labour surely engrained the concept of consent in northern Ireland in 1998. Maybe he thinks we should revisit that principle starting in the south Atlantic? It's all very concerning no matter what question you ask him!
