  1. I ended up soaking my chokes in vinegar and wrapping a cloth using mole grips to get it out ( had to reblue after though  ) :good:

Be Carefull having these chokes taken out I have seen some of the tools used for removing chokes and they can cause a lot of damage to your barrels, if you cover the postage I will have a go for you. pm me if you wish.

  2. Im very new to shotguns and looking at getting my first gun.

But I have seen the term "bluing" used a few times and wondered what it is or what it refers to?

Shotguns are blacked, rifles are blacked, blueing is for all the parts triggers etc and although its called blueing the finish is still black.

  3. Hi Greg, Got your barrels yesterday just to cheer you up a bit more you have a good size dent in the bottom barrel, this could have been done in transit as they were only covered in a small amount of bubble wrap, really they need to be in a hard case or a cardboard tube, ( you can pick these up at the carpet shops ) I will knock the dent up before blacking them, give Den a bell when you get a chance or pm me.

  4. very interesting that article good luck with the project.

John and Jammer Gibbs do it let me know if you want their no, st Ledgers are the experts but do not expect it to be cheap, anyone doing it on the cheap will not be much good,I have my grandfathers old formula for doing it but I have not got round to trying it yet.

  5. I am aware of the Dyson formula, the usa have several but they will not post to the uk,I mix my own these days as the chemists of yesteryear are all gone and none seem interested making up these solutions anymore,E.J Blackley do a slow rust brown for £15 but I have never used it, you have to be carefull with a lot of the formulas as some contain Mercuric chloride, I would advise anyone to stay clear of anything with that stuff in it.

  6. I do not usually make comments on here about poor service but I am now, so here is the problem one Kemen 0/u in desperate need of a left sided cocking rod no probs with the power of the internet its not too hard to to find the the importers (Mr Meggison at Kelbrooks) thats where the problems begin they will be pleased to sell you a gun but have no interest in helping a Kemen owner even though they are the sole importers in the uk! earlier tonight I emailed a Kemen dealer in Texas he replied in two minutes with a printed list of all the parts I emailed the one I needed and two minutes later he replied saying he thinks he has one at his office in Australia he would check it out and mail it to me, so shame on you Kelbrook you will not be getting my business any time soon, this is why uk gun repairs are so popular customer service is so very important.
