  1. Browning takes about three weeks to do properly, the process used on these barrels dates back to the 1840s, my picture taking is not too good !, one is a finished barrel, one is a barrel that has the rusting solution on it.
  2. Lots of guns but the ones I looked at were well overpriced.
  3. I will dig out some more pics shortly
  4. My grandfather was a barrel finisher in the trade this was one of his many hobbies, he started making them in the late sixties, I think they must be the only miniature guns that have damascus barrels,( he made the damascus barrels himself ) all the parts work although I do not know if they would fire and I would not try, I will add some more pics when I can.
  5. Hi all, Just returned from the game fair and on the way back I called in on a friend who is an actioner for the gun trade, I asked him if he could do some work on my miniature guns, we took them apart and placed the locks next to a two pence piece to show the size and these are working parts.
  6. Where in Devon are you I am in North Devon and I have an rfd.
  7. I black barrels for a living and I have to have an rfd even though it is just barrels, I also had to have a secure workshop alarm cctv etc, if you want to do barrels learn the proper way to do it as cold blues will never match other finishes and will wear quickly. www.shotgunblackingbrowningandblueing.co.uk
  8. Glad to help out any of you P.W guys, hope you have all had a good xmas.
  9. Den at uk guns has a tool for doing this, he has just done one for me.
  10. Now now guys, suns out cold beers in the garden all round !! have a good weekend !
  11. Ghilleys blacking looking good ! oops same pic twice !!
  12. send me the pics I will put them on for you.
  13. You should never use wd40 on any gun metal parts barrels, trigger guards etc and as others said stand the gun barrels down so no oil runs into the stock.
  14. Yawn, Rust blacking done by a professional never after rusts, my barrels never after rust, caustic finished barrels rot from the inside out, no matter how well they are flushed, I finish 100 barrels a month and you would not believe some of the stuff that comes out of these barrels I am not getting carried away with anything I just like the everyday guys out there knowing they can get their guns done the right way with no problems down the line, I have done this work all my life, I have no beef with you, I do not see the point in lobbing a barrel in a pot for £30/£40 when it is possible to do them the right way for a bit more money, we should agree to disagree. I CAN RUST BLACK YOUR GUNS TO BEST LONDON STANDARD......
  15. Class always stands out, separates the men from the boys.
  16. I would be interested to know who you spoke to at A.S.I`s workshop, as I said the factory that actually make these guns do not caustic black anything, Rust blacking is the best finish you can get and the best for shotgun barrels, I have had a set of barrels in this week that were caustic finished, the barrels were returned to the customer on route chemicals have leaked out onto the barrel and pitted them badly another good reason for sticking with the rust finish.
  17. Have you done your barrels yet ghilley ?
  18. As said before no guns from Aya are caustic finished who did you talk to in the Aya factory to learn this? what is the temp of your caustic finish? what is the melting point of the solder it is a fine line, I am not having a go at you, I just still believe in the old way of doing blacking a good rust finish may cost more but it will wear better and looks better if done properly. Ghilley let me know how you get on.
  19. It was some time back when I was at the factory but I am still in touch with them, they confirmed by email none of their guns are caustic blacked nor would they use that process on their barrels, I have done a large amount of barrels for berretta too they have a lot of processes, very few gunmakers now use the caustic process it was never meant for barrels just the parts and rifles, that is the way I was brought up, I finish 100 barrels a month all via the rusting method, my grandfather had a large finishing business in London in the sixties before moving to the country and starting again his family have done this work since 1840.
  20. I went to the Aya factory with my grandfather and he went to show them a bit about rust blacking, they do not caustic finish any barrels, how do you get the caustic out from under the ribs?
  21. Aya barrels Are silver braized and are not caustic blacked at the Factory they are all rust blued, caustic is ok for rifles but I would avoid putting shotgun barrels in it.
  22. What type of carding wheel do you want I have loads ?
  23. Mymwood, If you are near Jammer he is the guy to see I have seen his work it is first class.
