  2. Thanks Dougall, so my first 'crow' turned out to be a rook, my second turned out to be a jackdaw, can I just confirm with someone that the big red, dog looking thing with a fluffy tail is in fact a fox and I didn't shoot the neighbours dog? Off to specsavers I think !!
  3. Thanks all, Ireland's Finest - no it's not a Super Black Eagle it's the Benelli Comfort and comfortable it is! I looked at this and the M2 but as I have hands like a small child this fits great, the fore end is really narrow and really grippy so the control it gives me is so much better than a gun with a fatter fore end.
  4. Hi all, Sorry to post another 'I've popped my cherry' post but I had a great hour out yesterday, within minutes of strolling onto my permission I got a crow. Then a while later whilst looking through a gap in a hedge a perky young vixen broke from cover with a vole in her mouth and started trotting directly towards me, she got to within 20 yards before spotting me; mean time I had turned to face her and started bringing my gun to bear. As this was my first ever fox I have to admit to pausing just to appreciate how beautiful she was and I was having second thoughts about taking the shot (I know I know!). At that point she started to bolt, adrenalin took over and I fired two shots in quick succession and just as she started to find cover I fired the third. I walked briskly, reloading as I went as I was expecting to find her disabled but alive thankfully I arrived next to the ditch and she was already gone. I then pulled her out to take a look at her. Then i discovered what she had had in her mouth so, for the final picture: Very happy with just an hour on the permission.
  5. Good shooting, which Harris BiPod do you have as I have just bought an R10 and am in the market for one?
  6. Nice shooting, I love that Air Rifle, I know it has it's detractors but i can't get away from the fact that i think it looks great and does the business, apparently they have just released the Mk2, hmmm now how can I justify that one?
  7. Get a Benelli they are awesome, one of those without the gas parts to get gunky and have to clean all the time. Will cycle light to the heaviest of loads and the ones with Comfortech are great for the recoil. If you do a google search for them you will see the science behind it.
  8. Manufacturer? Blade steel? Length of blades? Is it a locking or non locking knife? Thanks
  9. No the mk1 has nothing on the end of the muzzle, no thread no adaptor. Just bought the Theoben gas ram for this puppy, may leave it at that and then look to get an R10 or S410 or 510 when funds allowed!
  10. Thanks all I couldn't decide if it was a rook or a crow either I plumbed for crow but hey what do I know? I spent ages studying google images of the two so I didn't look like a numpty on my first kill post! Will get round to putting a pic of my Benelli Comfort on here when I get the chance. Hoping to go out again Friday morning.
  11. So today i managed a number of firsts about which i am very happy. 1. First Shots fired on new permission (small 43 acre one next to my house) 2. First shots fired at live quarry from new Benelli Comfort 3. First use of Hull Sterling Game cartridges (thanks for the recommend Rob) 4. First shot ever fired at live quarry and i got my first ever Crow. Then went on to take some shots at various pigeons who mostly laughed stuck two fingers up at me and flew off, still went home very happy. Apologies for the obvious newbie post but it was a good short outing!
  12. Hi, Can anyone steer me in the right direction for a silencer for a Mk1 Superstar. I have spent days looking. BSA themselves do not do a product, their parts specialist John Knibbs doesn't know of one, anyone here have any ideas? A Bisley No.6 claims to fit a superstar but it doesn't specify which model and i cant find a contact to ask. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  13. MattR you can PM him on here, his site name is COACH.
  14. Just a quick one to say how impressed I was with Rob (COACH) coaching today. We met at Wood Farm, Mere, Wiltshire for an hours coaching and I can honestly say I came away after the hour at least a 50% better shot than when I started. I am a novice shooter and by the end he had me shooting uncalled pairs coming towards and going away as well as rabbits (horrible bouncers too) and some rangey high clays. I know how much better I was, as I shot there last week and was terrible, this week was excellent (for me). In addition he helped me with my gun fit and also on advice for ear defenders and advice on cartridges for various clay disciplines/guns and game, all the stuff you get a hundred different opinions about when to start with you just need one you can trust until you have enough knowledge to make up your own mind. Will definitely be booking again with Rob, he made the whole hour thoroughly enjoyable and it seemed like he enjoyed himself too which always helps - nothing worse than a grumpy coach! Thanks Rob for a great morning's shooting.
  15. Hi thanks for the info so far. I now believe it to be a superstar been online and looked at other pics online. Is the Theoben gas strut a worthwhile £70 spend? It looks interesting. What about the scope are they well regarded it certainly does the job except that as you tighten the cap on the adjustment point it can alter the adjustment which can be very annoying! I would like to fit a silencer if possible but there doesn't seem to be either an internal or external thread at the end of the barrel. Would it be possible? Thanks again.
  16. Hello all knowledgeable ones, please can you help me identify my .22 BSA Air Rifle Under Lever. It is a great little rifle and i bought it second hand from a mate 10 years ago for £100 including sight (Nikko Sterling Platinum). What is it? Is it any good? Is the scope any good? All info and comments appreciated, many thanks.
  17. Thanks, apparently this year it is being run by shooting r us?
  18. Hi there can anyone tell me about the clay shooting going on at the game fair this weekend at the Royal Bath and West show ground? Is it take your own guns and carts? Also newbie question here what is clay snooker? Do I need to register anywhere or just pitch up? Any info appreciated. Are semi autos acceptable?
