my sons gun hes only 8 and its shot from a bench so weights not an issue :D

    AAs200 mk3 177 with a ZOS 10-40x60ESF Military Standard Tactical

not a bad scope for the price

As he says it's bench shot so weights not an issue, do you reckon Dad's gotta carry the bench on bunny bashing trips ?

  2. Plaswads!!!????

I haven't started shooting yet as Im waiting on my SGC Application,

I remember as a kid playing over the fields finding these plastic things sometimes in large numbers and now know they were Cartridges and Plastic Wads.

As it wouldn't occur to me to leave behind my 'empties', I did already question the wad issue being as they'd be harder to collect and was happy to find that fibre wads are available and biodegradeable.

So, although slightly more expensive, Its Fibre wads for me unless circumstances forbid their use

  3. One for the mechanically minded I think.

My brother left for Australia 5 months ago and despite me advising him not to, left his VW Golf parked on my parents drive.

I arrived at my parents this morning and had a look at the car! Both front tyres were a bit flat, the engine oil levels are low, there is no power steering fluid in the reservoir, the battery is totally dead, the brake disks are rusted badly and the hand brake is seized on, oh and its almost impossible to move the gear stick!

Question is how easy would it be to get it into a road worthy state? The disks are badly rusted, will these need changing or can it be "worn" off? What about the gear stick, any ideas why it wont move? Does the power steering fluid suggest a leak? As for the siezed hand brake any ideas on how to free it?

The car is a VW Golf 52 reg 1.9 TDI with 122,000 on the clock. Anyone fancy buying it!!!!!! Its a sweet little runner!!!!:lol:

After you've just sold it so eloquently, How can anyone resist

It doesn't sound as if he's maybe not looked after it particularly well?.

Things like Power steering fluid shouldn't really go unless its leaking badly, and usually leaks more in use as its under pressure. Has it left puddles under the car ?

Hand brake might come off it you try and drive it back and forth, likely just to be stuck through irregular use.

Brake discs shouldnt be too bad, merely surface rust through lack of use, (assuming they were in reasonable shape to start with)

Again the gear linkages could be stiff due to surface rust through lack of use, or lack of lubrication if not looked after regularly.

Or could be due to clutch being stuck, again surface rust.

    I'd be tempted to

    A: Charge the battery up

    B: Blow the tyres up

    C: Give the car a good wash/polish

D: Top up the oil levels and power steering fluid

  4. hi guys basically i bought a rapid 7 off of mad1 exellent gun and really wanna use it tonight for a bit of lamping but its been raining all day its stopped now so im just wondering weather u think rabbits will be coming out or not due to the **** weather ect? thanks

    Whereabouts are you going ?

Im in Chelmsford and would love to find places to go, people to team up with, got a Gammo SFX meself at the moment.

Has it stopped raining ?? blimey its been at it last night and most of today I think.

  5. Never thought of using 34g no5 for pigeons, what are peoples taken on this cartrige? He seems very comfey with the recoil although he is well built..

    Hope you all enjoy!

I know this guy is an expert in his field (no pun intended ;) )

BUT have a look, 24mins 14 into the video, (just after he shoots the one coming in over the decoys), He appears to clearly reload 2 cartridges and close the gun then lowers it vertically behind the hide net whilst holding the barrel end. Surely this is not the correct/safe thing to be doing ?

  6. I'm waiting for the local FEO in Chelmsford to make contact regarding coming to see me as I have a SGC Application in and my FAC for a 22lr and FAC Air rifle will be going in during the next couple of days.

I've no idea what specific questions I'm likely to be asked and I have no real experience of firearms generally but I have been given permission to shoot vermin mammals and pigeons on approximately 430-450acres.

Im hoping that its going to be as much about showing that at 46yrs old Im a sensible individual with the required degree of common sense to be able to think carefully about what and where I'm shooting ?? And the safety implications of what Im doing.

Or does anybody know different ?

  7. No GG, I knocked it over the head and its in my freezer now, :o

No Chance, :sly: Of course it went back into the water unscaved and it lives on to fight another day. Hopefully i will catch her again some day and I hope she has put on a few more pounds :good:

Not a bad pic to say it's off my phone.

    Tight Lines

    Kipper :good:

    Easy GG,

I read his response as tongue in cheek rather than forthright.

You can eat Pike, in ye olden tymes it was regarded or known as "poor mans' salmon"

I believe its quite boney and its the younger smaller pike that make better eating.
