Hi all. Thanks for everyone's input on this matter. A little update. The wife's brother is transferring the guns to his sgc. I'm glad they are staying within the family abd not being split up.

There were very good strikes on all the rims that didn't go off first time round which is what had me some what perplexed. 2 different ammo types. Does the cold have much effect on ignition? The guns and ammo are stored in a cold area plus it was pretty chilly Sunday!? Thanks for this. I think I will give the bolt a good service and clean to eliminate this as the culprit.

I took the T-Bolt out today to zero for the first time in a long time today. My new years resolution is to do more shooting after having a 3 and a bit year hiatus (children, covid etc.). Now, I had 2 boxes of Hornady 17grains that have been in the cabinet all that time and I had a few no fires - cartridge was marked by the pin but no bang. I thought it may have been a one off but happened 3 more times. Decided to switch over to some new Winchester's I bought last week and has exactly the same issue with a few rounds. I took out the culprits, inspected and retried. One of them took 2 attempts to fire. My thinking is a sticky firing pin, any idea how to strip the bolt for a good clean & oil as suspect it is gummed up after all this time sitting idle (never had issues before).

I have not actually seen the guns yet but the wife believes one to be a beretta and the other unknown (father or grandfather's gun of the deceased so one assumes a sxs of some sort). The auction route does seem a good idea and I will broach this with her. I like to think of myself as an honest person so if I like the Beretta I will make her a decent offer based on market price (using guntrader etc. For reference).

Good evening all. A family friend's husband passed away 15 months ago. He held a shotgun certificate with 2 shotguns and these are still secured in a cabinet. Now, admittedly the wife should have notified the firearms department to obtain a temporary licence for a determined period of time (3-6months the norm?)to allow a decision to be made on how to dispose - naturally this wasn't top of her priority list. Now, I am a licenced shotgun holder and have said I would be interested in seeing the guns with the potential of buying them. First question. If I buy the guns, how do I go about adding these to my certificate? Can I add these on to my own cert and notify firearms department per normal procedure? Or should I contact my local firearms department before making an offer? Second question. If I decide I don't want the guns, I would like to help her dispose of the guns. We both live close to an RFD. Would it just be a case of asking them if they are happy to have them to dispose off? Or should she arrange with the firearms team to collect/deliver to an appropriate station. The gentleman's cert had only just been renewed so there won't be any contact from the firearms for atleast 3 years. Should she also return his certificate? Any advice greatly received.

Yes pro shooting indeed. You feel you can ask any questions and get an honest and professional answer which is the way it should be. Too much red tape and differing views from all counties. Finally picking up my new t-bolt tomorrow after what feels like an age.

I posted a few weeks ago regarding a request for a new referee for my firearms application. Well today my Fac & coterminous Shotgun certs have arrived only 19 days after first applying! Hats of to Suffolk Constabulary and Chris Allen. I have a Browning T-bolt on its way I feel for all the people waiting months and months and glad I live in a very efficient parts of this kingdom.

Thought this may be a good place to advertise, I must state that it is however for sale elsewhere also. This might be an ideal Shooting man's mode of transport! There is not a lot I can find on them apart from a few odd pictures and that they were made in the U.S.A ( if anyone knows anything please share) Recently rebuilt, includes spare engine & other associated parts. Starts and runs with forward and reverse. Engine is a Briggs & Stratton 656cc air cooled flat twin (16HP) which pulls very well. As seen in the photos tipper body is hand operated. I have just joined a club but probation is 6 months. There is someone there who would be willing to show me the ropes with centre fire.

So had my interview today. Decided just to get a .17hmr asked for .223 told wait a year. Can't argue with that as I haven't had a lot of experience with centerfire.
