The wigeon seem to have arrived in the harbour; I roughly counted a 1000 wigeon in one area! Anybody been out?

Went down on Sunday evening for the new members monthly organised flight. The weather couldn't have been worse, sunny, clear and no wind, needless to say we didn't see a lot. Could really do with some cold weather to get those Wigeon in the harbour.

There were quite a few packs of teal about when I went out on Sunday evening - Because of the strong S/W wind it mean't they were coming through fast and low, making them a very challenging target!

This morning I saw around 30 mallard flighting in and 15 geese...I have also heard wigeon and seen several packs of teal. Why do you ask, have you not seen many whilst out?

Went out this morning down the harbour. I decided that I would try a different spot to normal and as the Mallard started to appear they went straight over were I would have normally gone! Luckily a pair did come my way, but I managed to miss! Just to rub salt into the wound 2 bunchs of 5 geese also went over my usual spot!!! Still, was a cracking morning and good to see so many duck and geese around, and I've only got my self to blame for coming home with nothing.

Also had a good flight, on Sunday night I shot my first Mallard of the season, and could have probably bagged another couple had I not been keeping an eye on my young dog retrieving the duck! The harbour certainly seems to be alive with duck, which is very exciting, considering it's only the begging of the season...

Mongrel, I've been a member of Chichester wildfowlers for over 3 years now and to be honest I wished I had known about it a lot sooner. Getting out onto the marsh in the early hours of the morning, before the world has woken up, waiting for the sunrise and then seeing the first silhouette of a duck whistle past, is something that I'll never tire of. I do hope you get your membership sorted out, but when you do, give me a shout and I'll take you out...
