  1. I tried the radical approach to gaining my first permission - I moved into a house on a farm! Got to know the farm manager, popped the question and permission granted. Been out twice now and loving it :-)
  2. It's private land I'm bored of this thread now
  3. Recce'd it last night. Loadsa bunnies on it (Will be seeking perm from adjacent golf course too) Plenty of cover/distance from the road. Two corners of tree cover, plenty of long grass in the borders. Mainly air rifle to start with, but want to shotty it if I think positioning is ok. Seeking another shotty perm, got one in mind
  4. As I say, plod have given green light :-/
  5. Plod have ok'd it. Phone 101 on start and end
  6. Email sent to Natural England re: adherence to General License - Pigeons eating grass seed Will post their reply...
  7. Its a piece of land 350 metres wide by 250 metres behind a footy pitch It's used as pitches for kiddies footy in the summer. Best described as a footy pitch - but used for a variety of purposes As I said - a guy has rabbit permission on it already... The reason i asked permission is because I drive by it every day and it's covered in pigeons and gulls
  8. I've not shot it yet - will do a recce over the next couple of days The pitch is surrounded by waste ground of at least 50m each side before you get to the road the only concern is the road - but i'd shoot with my back to that If it's a fairly quiet day - a Browning Medallist 12g If it's a busy day - a .22 air rifle I'm thinking this may turn out in the long run to be my "air rifle" permission
  9. If the groundsman has put grass seed down, pigeons will munch it. That'll be fine?
  10. Hi all I've just gained my first permission. I thought "outside the box" and asked the local footy pitch greenkeeper if I can have a go at the pigeons. Luckily there is already a permission in place for the bunnies - so as long as I leave them alone i'm free to let loose on the birds. Thing is - it's quite near a road and opposite that is quite a public infested river ;-) Any one else have quite a "public permission" and do you have any tips/advice to share?
  11. Nervous phone call made..... Discussions done..... Wait for it.......... Permission Granted!!!! Woo hooooooooo!!!!
  12. Ok - to all you noobs who read the "get out there and just keep trying posts" believe me it pay dividends I have just gained 50% of the necessary agreement I need for my first permission Driving by a piece of grassland today, covered in gulls and pigeons - i stopped off and had a chat. I can take as many pigeons as I like - I just need to speak to the other guy tomorrow, get the nod and get my slip signed. I'm nearly peeing my pants in excitement!!!
  13. Thats sywell range, my local clay shooting ground. Highly recommend the place. Very friendly bunch and Geoff is an ace tutor!
