Hi,
Ive had a few 4x4's and driven a few more. Discos are very capable motors on and off road the 300 tdi is best engine wise a real workhorse. the only problem is they should come with a welder in the toolkit. They rot like an early 80's jap car no matter how well they have been looked after they are full of rust traps. if you dod get one of these check everywhere for rust as they can look great from the top and be complete dogs underneath. Diahatsu's are rot boxes to and again check everywhere, electrics are iffy aswell. Engine does pull like a train, the 2.8 diesel that is. Mitsi's if you go down this route id say go down the route of a mk2 pajero over a uk spec shogun. As a pajero and shogun of the same age the chances are that the pajero will be in better condition alot less rot and less miles. Ignore anyone who says parts are dear as there no different to l/r.
My disco fell to bits and that was a 98 300 tdi es with 150,000 on the clock i got fed up with welding it. My current paj is a 93 lwb exceed 93,000 on the clock, no rus,t eveything works and i know no matter what i can go to it and it will start. I use it all over my shoot in wales for feeding, fully loaded never got stuck with it yet. there a good soild all rounder.
