  1. No worries Jim, I'm new to the game too... and is interesting to see the trends. Unfortunately there were a ton of pigeons on another field, but the plane scared them off, so wasn't able to get a 'shot'... still, someone shooting that area could do very well!
  2. Think max range is 1km, but probably not with a video feed. Then you have the investment/crashes to repair!
  3. Hi All, I was commissioned to photograph a clients home from the seat of my uncles cessna aircraft on Sunday, and we flew over a field that was home to 'some' crows (feel free to count!)... and a few pigeons, which might also be interesting to see. Anyway, I grabbed a shot (36.3 megapixels!) and have also included a link to a 100% crop from another picture, which shows the same field, but from quite a distance! These were taken over Panfield, Essex... just outside Braintree. Anyone shoot over there? Perhaps something can be learnt from these, quite interesting to see their shape from above (do zoom in!), and their 'layout' etc.. http://countryshot.co.uk/files/DSC_3290.jpg http://countryshot.co.uk/files/DSC_3359.jpg
  4. Think it has been done for a week or two now, but who knows, maybe worth a visit... Not far from a road, so won't have to lug all the gear miles to have a go
  5. I watched over the field between 4 and 5pm this evening, there wasn't tons of activity, but probably watched 20 odd pigeons fly the same route
  6. I'm without stubble to shoot over at the mo, but considering an outing on some cultivated land under a decent flight line.. am I wasting my time, or will the pigeons trust the decoys and believe there is still food to be had?
  7. I picked up some cartridges yesterday... a new kent velocity, 29g 6's, dedicated 'pigeon' cartridge. taking them out tomorrow, lets hope they do the trick! (Paid £48 for 250).
  8. Many thanks all, looking forward to telling a few stories!
  9. Hi All, I'm Ben from Saffron Walden, not too far from Cambridge... After picking up about 400 acres to shoot on, had my first pigeon outing a few weeks back over some rape stubble, managed to shoot a 'massive' 8, and probably missed 4 times that! Planning a second outing this friday, weather looks good and I've got my eyes on a wheet stubble field that seems popular with the pigeons. Also, just picked up some new 29g, 6 shot - Kent High Velocity Pigeon cartridges, which I thought sounded good. I shoot with an old side-by-side and its very light, so kicks like hell! ...the 32g's I used last time weren't much fun (overs from a pheasant shoot last year). Anyway, just wanted to say 'hi' and thanks to all for the current topics on the forum, I've learnt a lot from a few hours reading, much appreciated! Cheers, Ben. PS. would be great to hear from anyone else in the local area!
