Get yourself round these parts you can buy a brand new old one round here for a lot less than the figure you quoted, either on original or Q plated

The biggest issue for myself would be if you buy it and trash it again the insurance will only pay out around 50% of its value as they've already paid out on it once, therefore you want to be buying it as cheap as possible and make sure you can insure it as well as a lot of companies won't insure them.

I know of a club at Gainsbrough that shoots on some flashes at the side of the Trent and who's members are also eligible for Humber permits, If you wish to pm me I'll forward the chairmans email address if you're interested.

Keep a diary noting conditions wind direction etc that you can refer backto over the years. Other than that spend as much time as you possibly can with the old hands and glean as much information as you can. Unfortunately there are no short cuts in gaining experience and that's all you're lacking reading your posts your enthusiasm certainly shines through just keep at it and good luck.

so IF and i mean IF 4-5-6-7 and 8 shots was still legal to use for Wildfowling you clip,wing a third you have a fourth shot !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND my Fowling mate use's a Semi Auto but even he admit's that third shot can be a cartidge waster. As i keep telling him " if you cant down em in two they should be allowed to live for another day "

I know a chap from my way who has a Wilkes single 4b breech loader, you from round Doncaster way snowmonster?
Oxfordfowler has a double 4b muzzle loader.

Get out there but just be honest with yourself and those who take you out. Its not the distance its the long grasses, gutters and the kit. I certainly hope to be out in another 20yrs but might be shooting the easier bits then nearer the sea wall

Hmm ! should be good & with good steel barrels will give many years of service

If its 30 cal its the wrong mod,if you fit the correct mod the hole in the front is smaller and quietens things down.I had a 30 call mod on my 243 and it was loud till I fitted the right mod and it definetly quieter.
+1 will be a lot better with a correct cal mod fitted, have an atec fitted on mine and find it to be excellent hardly wakes anyone up at all now

Horses for courses what brings on an attack for you may not effect the next man. Good advice would be to avoid high protein in your diet red meat & wine a definite no no, one of my biggest triggers are eggs especially duck eggs I used to love em now I can't even look at one without getting twinges. You'll soon learn to live with it and get to know what you can risk eating / drinking and what you can get away with, like I said earlier good luck with it.

Having endured it for twenty or so years, don't think you'll be fine in three days or so. Remember prevention is better than cure where the attacks are concerned as every time you suffer an attack you'll be left with damaged joints of the arthritic kind usually, you may find a change of lifestyle / diet is required along with a regular dosage of allopurinol. Good luck with the treatment.

Wife in her third year at uni and absolutely loving it, and she'd be classed as a mature student definitely I wouldn't dare put that she's fffffiiiiiffff ish well you know where I'm going.
ps sorry just sit back and relax was her advice and enjoy, at least you'll not be worrying about zits and trivialities

I didn't say that at all Nic , just pointing out the pitfalls in your own observations. The only way to stage a takeover successfully would be a vote of no confidence in the existing council and election of a new council on block, getting people in place in one go as like I said and you well know it's virtually impossible otherwise. This could be done as I well remember being dusted off and let out the cupboard to go to an AGM as a fowler to block such a takeover bid.

Personally I don't think the midweek meetings would make that much difference, the biggest problem is the structure of the organisation and how the council works. To achieve a takeover as Nic suggests would take years to achieve and dozens of like minded and patient people, even if you could get the wildfowlers voting at every council election you only ever elect 2 or 3 new members who can then only serve a limited number of years before they have to stand down so to take control with wildfowlers only elected is slim to impossible as in the past fowlers on council have been frustrated to the point of resigning I believe or just faded into the none attendance bracket.

All PM's and emails replied too, The allocated membership places are now filled as with the seasonal permit sales. Thanks everyone who showed an interest and if you've been unlucky on this occasion and still wish to join please contact me via PM or email in March prior to our AGM which will be held in April when the books for memberships will re-open, again this will be limited and on a first come basis. If it's ok with admin I'll post a reminder or refresh this thread to the top of the page nearer the time, once again thank you all that have shown an interest in our club and good shooting for the rest of the season.
