  1. Im not too fussed providing its affordable for all and a good service. A few thoughts though. Would this lead to charges for registering firearms when bought and sold? If somebody uses the nhs more than I do does this mean they have to pay more for the service, does somebody in the countryside pay more to be air lifted to the nearest hospital rather than driven, or do I/everybody else subsidise it? The licencing process is a service for everybody in the country which is required as part of the law of the land, its not our fault that only a few choose to use it, if you see what im saying. And the public are a bit hypocrytical sometimes, they call for taxation when it doesnt effect them, but suggest tax increases to fund nhs over spending and everyone goes nuts. Death and taxes, inevitable I guess.
  2. Well seems at the moment a saiga would be what i need in order to drop them clays. Need to get down more i think.
  3. Thanks for that it was my first go with one and i made sure the breach flag was in before stepping foot out of the cage, I just stuck to two in at a time as its no great hardship at the end of the day and now thats its been pointed out by yourself and others above makes perfect sense. I dont mind coming across a bit "dumb" asking questions when safetys concerned, the possible repercussions scare me a little to be honest so want to make sure i develop the right habbits from the start.
  4. Thankyou for taking the time out to educate a newbie here people i consider myself educated, I am dissapointed that I didn't realise it myself as it does make sense, i now see why it's enforced. Cant be too careful. Which makes me concerned as I have often heard a shooters letting off three at a time. I can now pass on my new found wisdom to them. Prefer my o/u anyway and have no need for three loaded at a time but was just curious as to why.
  5. Hi all, Firstly I have no problem complying with this rule and have no complaints either as its no big deal, rules are here to provide safety for us all, im merely here to hopfully gain clarification on the reasons and better understand why it is a rule, i like to fully understand rules that I follow especially if when safety is concerned. Im a novice for a start so if its common knowledge please excuse my ignorance I want to learn as quickly as possible everything to do with saftey. Ive been to the local clay range a hand full of times at most and used an over and under all of that time, a great place that i enjoy. Today however I had a try with a semi auto for the first time (liked it more than I thought I would). I was notified that there is a rule of only a max of 2 rounds to be loaded into the gun at any time. Fair enough, I will comply with this no problem, my question is why? I can understand the rest of the rules they are clearly there to keep people safe and are no brainers but cant seem to think of a saftey reason why this rule exists. My only guesses are that this maybe an etiquette thing (maybe its a bit of a no no to let off 3 shots in quick succession, not that I would). Maybe they dont want to encourage people pumping out clays in quick succession as it might damage the machinery? Any insights anyone? The thoughts and advice of someone more experienced than I would be greatly appreciated.
  6. Not too sure if you guys have seen this today or whether its already posted up on here but thought i'd put it up just in case. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-22831522
  7. And a corection for the first post, its a 30" barrel set up not 28", as was evident when i compared it to another 28"er.
  8. Thanks all, not been on for a few weeks. Cheers Mikky I will keep that in mind always up for meeting new people and learning more. Andy1968, i got it from Chesihire Gun Rooms in stockport, paid a bit more than i would through private sale but fully expected too, well worth a visit and nice guys. Another good place i went ot yesterday was the Dog And Cartridge in Standish Wigan, a fair old hike for me yesterday (I dont have a daily driver so go everywhere on bus, im fortunate enough to live within walking distance of work) but well worth it, quite a good selcection of second hand ones, if you like side by sides they have a range from £100 upwards, very nearly purchased a couple of these but stayed strong.
  9. Hi all, both items now sold. Thanks very much for the interest and apologies to anyone I have not got back to, i only put it on 24 hrs ago and was suprised to the amount of interest that i received.
  10. Thanks all, hope to speak to, maybe see you all more over the coming time. And I was born at trafford general so im on the red/best side of the city.
  11. Just wanted to say hi to everyone, thought it would be a good starting point rather diving straight in with the questions that are sure to come. Live in Manchester and recently caught the clay bug by going to Worsley for a little taster and ended up going for lessons and before I know it I had my safe and SGC aquired. Purchased my first gun Saturday just gone, I did a bit of research on here before I did and went with tried and tested 2001 Lanber Sporting Deluxe 12G, 28 inch barrels, multi choke, 3 inch chambers with steel proof barrels, fits well and i'm pretty chuffed. Not so chuffed on the initial outlay for the everything, all the gear and no money left for cartridges Still when end of month comes ill be back down worsley with a few hundred cartridges, cant wait to give it test run. Been selling everything in sight, still got an umarex walther cp88 and a beretta 92fs nickel to sell to put some money back in the kitty so might be down there sooner than i think.
