  1. It's a very smart tutorial,I aim to use it.I did download that infanview,I regret not taking care to stop it taking over other things,It's changed my Google to Bing, and I keep getting extra webpages opening up when I don't want it to,on an already slow computer, but having said this, infanview does work.In future,I will try to reduce the size of a picture before I snap it,but I would prefer to get the best one available on my idiot camera,as it happens. It is a shame to reduce the size of the picture,I would rather reduce the pixel quality, but it's early days, and I appreciate all the help I have been given.
  2. They do have Obsessive compulsive disorder. We always had lurchers or deerhounds, far easier to deal with, but I love my Collies little traits.Once I got the bulk of her chasing everything that moves issues out of her,I admire her smartness so much, siply her ability to solve a problem, very quickly.Just a simple example,If I got over a fence on a walk, and she could not get over, she would easily run off for 5 inutes,a very long way around, because she knows an easy way to get where we need to be,and she would arrive. One command I have is,GO ROUND,to do what I ahve just mentioned. It works if we are walking,I see a load of mud, say,"Go ROUND",and point away from the mud,she will go around. They soon learn.I am no dog trainer, but I play to here strenghs, when something comes naturally, and it is of benefit,I encourage it.She has that rounding things up instinct,a wide outrun they call it on one man and his dog.Getting into the work van or my car,she will never ever just jump up in the back,or on the seat,as she sits in the front, but she will always walk the long way around the vehicle, and then get up,always. She is not fast like my old lurchers, but has had maybe 30 rabbits in her time, and most of those came because of her knowledge, not her speed. The times I see a rabbit infront, wish she would go after it,and she runs back, around over the wall, and takes them from behind. It's very impressive to observe.
  3. I have lots of Videos of this dog,Stella. If you have stumbled across me on this forum, you will see,I have onlt just been able to put a picture on here, doing Videos must be a whole other ball game.I'll ask the Collie to help, she far outsmarts me!
  4. This is my Bite Alarm,Works in all weathers,is 99.9% accurate and requires no batteries.Only ever trouble is trying to switch her off, loves Fishing! She will watch the float, the end of the rod,or whire the line is in the watch, when it looks like a bite, she whines,if I ignore it,she pushes against be,looks at me,looks at the rod, looks at me.Saturday morning,or any time I pick up a camera,a tin of sweetcorn, andthing I take Fishing, she won't settle unless we go fishing,I only have to use the F-Word,she knows(Fishing) recently I have been saying,I'm going Angling today, she has started to twig, angling and fishing are the same thing. She has another great tallent as a squirell spotter if anyone wants to go shooting in the woods, this is the dog to take,I don't know if she hears them, smells the,or sees them,I suspect all 3.She can be asleep at work( I am a roofer) suddenly wake up,run off to a tree, yap yap yap,There will be a squirrel. She has had 1 kill so far.(Pleant more Rabbits though)
  5. Thankyou,I managed to resize and save to my desktop. Not sure where to put it on Pigeon Watch, for example,I would not be able to copy and paste it here,on this actual screen where I am typing.I have just done an experimental picture of my Air Rifles to see how and where to put a picture.I now know how to do my profile picture.I have been too engrosed with trying to learn about the pictures, and not done enough looking at other things. Not sure if you noticed,I typed somewhere that I am interested in buying and selling knives.I think I will have a brows in the for sale part now. Thankyou for your help.
  6. Nobody sees to be endorsing the flat coated retriever, great dogs!
  7. Thankyou,as you can see,it now works!! Did you use Paint? I am not just being needy or silly, there is no option to resize in whatever paint I have on my computer.I have downloaded the irfanview thing harrycatcat1 suggested,as I intend to get on the selling page,I have some lovely knives for sale, handmade in the style of Ray Mears Bushcraft knives, same quality, much cheaper.I would like o use the best possible pictures to show those off. Thankyou for your help,I always love to see my little Collie smiling at me!
  8. H,I have it downloaded.I have managed to resize a picture on it.I never managed to save it somewhere else, and I only sesized by half, pixels, not lengh though,is this correct? There seems to be much to learn, but much to work with too.Thankyou.
  9. Thankyou Welsh1. I have just sent the picture, maybe 5 minutes ago.I am just off to walk the pictured little dog(in the rain) I'll be back then to see if there has been any action,Thanks,Neil.
  10. Nice Video. Before I pull the rest of my hair out, will this method,a.Put the picture into the Profile picture,as opposed to being part of a message thread, and b,does it ruduce the picture quality, which is what I need? I'm not just being lazy,I just worry about downloading things, slowing down my already old and cluttered computer, then finding, the new download has taken over many default things, such as windows picture and fax viewer? I'm gonna do it now!!
  11. Thanks for that,but.... I have been doing all the above, just tried again.I have saved, moved, renamed allsorts. When I come to upload,I get the exact same message. The file selected is too large-Max 100kb. All the people telling me to resize in paint, there is no option to do so in my paint.I will have to go away and find a new program to resize, but have to go out now.I'll get it somehow. It does not help trying to know how measurements of lengh/width,or pixelsx pixels equates to 100kb,and also not knowing kg,mg,or gb,which is the most, but for now,it's all irrelevant in paint,as I do not have any option to resize. Cheers,Neil.
  12. My paint has options, they are drop-down boxes,in order from left to right,File,Edit,View,Image,Colors,Help. This is all along the top, along side left, things like spray cans, lines, actual painting options. In the boxes, nothing helps.Best I could do was save blank pictures to other places like my desktop. My things are either out of date or my settings are wrong.
  13. I must have an outdated paint,as there simply is not a resize button, absolutely is not one,I have clicked and looked at every button and symbol,it does not exist on my computer. Thanks for telling me.I will get on abetter computer over the weekend and sort something out.
  14. I will try this thankyou harrycatcat1. Maybe this link will show you one of the pictures I am trying to use,it was saved my me ages ago on a thing called ipernity. http://www.ipernity.com/doc/159280/8473782
  15. I thought I'd just ask a 9 year old to do it for me. I keep getting told 100mb Max,even though I have reduced it to 20% of original.Just imagine a pretty Border Collie, sat my a nice waterfall in the Sunshine. That is what I am trying to show. I bet you lot don't have to faff around,I bet you just click Browse, get it from "My Pictures" and hey presto. It works for me on Ebay,Facebook, emails, just not here.
  16. I tried it,no option to resize.I looked it up in help, followed their suggestion, went to Attributes. What the option actually was was to crop it,not reduce the picture quality, even though I had it set on pixcels.I saved to desktop,I ended up with a cropped picture, squashed up more narrow, missing the sides or the original.Faced with a choice, save, cancelor O.K. I somehow cancelled, and ,managed to save a blank white screen. No matter about photobucket now,as I have managed to wipe the picture for ever.I should not go near computers, they became advanced before I ever touched one,and 7 years on from my first go,and a computer just as old,I am well and truely on the scrapheap. Thanks for your help,I will simply give up on this task,no point being part of a group I don't know how to benefit from. Thanks,Neil.
  17. Thankyou Deershooter.I promise you, simple things for some folk, are far from it for me,but I will have a go at your suggestion right now.If it works, you should all see a picture of my lovely Border Collie,Stella.Thankyou.
  18. Thankyou,I will try that.I have heard of it.I am a luddite computer dunce.I set my camera to good quality pictures, knowing I can view them, but never intend to have to reduce quality, whole point of having a reasonable camera(it's a Nikon Coolpix idiot camera, but it suits me well, for around £45) I have a few pictures of knives I would like to put on a collectors site,I have the same problem with those.People want to see fine detail,so I take the best pictures I am able, then they are too good. Thankyou for your help. Neil.
  19. Hello. I am trying to upload a profile picture, amongst others.I can't do it.I try to Browse pictures(ones in my Pictures, taken on my digital camera) they are too large. I can't capture the moments again,so does anybody have tips on how to rrsize them,or minimise the pixels so they are smaller.these 8 Million+ pixel cameras are all well and good, but they seem to have got too big for their own boots.Once upon a time,3 million was big news.I have 1 more picture, the profile picture won't allow,it does not recognise the format. This was one I took on my camera, had on Facebook, copied and pasted it to my new computer. It's not in "My Pictures" but I can't use this either. Any suggestions please. Tha ks,Neil.
  20. Hello. There was no danger in this BSA Meteour breaking any power limits,I could have shot it out of my bedroom window, walkied up the garden to see where it hit,and rolled a fag while I waited for the pellet to get there.I sold it to a pest controller who said all it needed was washers, they are around £6 on Ebay.He wanted it for a customer,I sold it for what I payed.I still have my Dads' Weirach 77,and that suits me very well.I think it needs some TLC,I remember him using a feather duster type Ram Rod,and Gun oil to clean the barrel, and it has a camber which opens when it's cocked,I do need advise what to do to keep it nice.I hardly use it,I have been too buisy in my spare time doing up the garden.I have been away from here a while,I am not great with computers. My last visit,I could not understand why I could not upload pictures, this is my next challenge,to update my profile, not this mkrning at 12.39 though.I aim to return.
  21. They are fantastic Dogs in the right hands. This chap needs a lab,or a flatcoat.
  22. I understand where you are coming from, but never underestimate the ability of a Border Collie.I have personally seen 2 of the best Gundogs ever,Border Collies. The Dog is up for the job,in the right hands, with the good training.Somebody who has to ask on awebsite,do you think a Collie will mind being ignored for 10 hours at a time, possibly is not the right candidate to look after such complexed dogs. With mental stimulation, and an occupation, there are few dogs to rival a collie. How many bite alarm fishing collies do you know? I've got one,not specifically got her for that, but she had a fascination for fishing, with their manic inquisitive, hardly ever give up personallity.I can take her fishing now, fall asleepif I like, get a bite, she pulls my leg or arm, whines, alerts me.Just a thing which has developed.I am maybe the wrong person to talk to about leaving dogs home alone,as mine comes roofing with me every day, pretty much spend all our life together, she is sprawled out on my bed now.I have seen many great dogs, who love their kennels (after a days work or enough excercise) but I certainly would not expect somebody who gets a Collie, leavs it unattended for so long,to expect much more than a very troubled, hard to work with dog.
  23. I may be totally wrong here, but I use a thing on my Motorbike called ACF50.It's an aerosole designed for protecting metal/moving/electrical parts, originally made to protect Harrier Jumpjets on Aircraft carriers. It protects from corrotion, but once on the item, you won't see it.Solvents will remove it,certainly for bikes,it keeps the road salt and wet out for 18 months. If it does all it claims,it really is fantastic. At £13 a tin,it's quite pricey, but will last as long,as do as much as a large tin of WD 40,but leaves behind no oily residue.I collect knives,my personal favourite at the moent is my Marttiini Full tang, curly birch hunting knife.Have a look at those on Google, buy direct from the factory and get upto 25 letters etched in the blade, and a fancy box, simply quality.I have a few Bokers,Precition engineering. Neil.
  24. I only keep replying to this thread,as I get the impression that I am not believed,880 that's a new record,or And he makes his own powder, sounds like I am talking about some very impressive person. When I did my work experiance with him,his Gun impressed me,the shot of the Hare impressed me,and yes,he does make his own Gunpowder,he works with and around guns,He was a Gamekeeper for Bruern Abbey Estate, but they stopped the pheasant shoot side.Paul Whittington now,so far as I know, certainly a couple of years back, rented the shoot, runs it his way,but does offer a lot of Deerstalking days, and people come and sit in his high chairs in the woods shooting foxes, lots of Americans when I last visited. He also owns Bruern Abbey Gamekeeper feeds. His passion,is shooting.
  25. He had a powder license. The best I could find out about his gun,I met his old friend today. He had a Mannlicher 243,which he sold to the chap I spoke to,and also a Mannlicher .220 with a Barley twist barrel, and the barrel was the smart thing about it apparently.(Sorry,220 Swift) he thinks from memory.Whatever, all much more impressive than my BSA Meteour.I should be selling that tomorrow, the bloke who I was talking to about the Mannlichers is a pest controller, and wants a cheap rifle for one of his customers.Mine is broken, needs either a spring,or maybe rubber seals. As I don't know which, springs are £20 onEbay, seals £5-6.I do not want to buy bits to fix it,and find I never needed them,or buy them, and it's not worth doing. My intention, get rid ofnthat for the £45 I payed for it,then focus on my Weirach hw77. This is the Air Rifle I have,as it was my Dads.I know it's hardly been used for 3 years,I shot a few Pigeons when I was waiting for my new lawn to grow, but I notice it's a bit dusty.I have some Gun Oil,can't think where the mop thing is to go down the barrel. Also, there is a screw near the trigger, looks dusty.I assume that is to adjust the force needed to pull the trigger(oh yes, another thing about that Manlicher, the 243,that has 2 triggers, set one normal one, then the second one is extremely fine,so when ready to fire, nothing gets too unsettled) I am hoping to see 2 local landowners,to get permission to shoot a few Rabbits, when I can work out these pictures, and where to put them, ought to be some posts of me,my Rabiits, before, and after they are Stewed.
