  1. Every cartridge I shoot comes out with a black mark on the primer and a deeper than usual indentation that looks rough at the very end. Is that what you see when you say they have split? I have spoken to the shop I bought it from and they are happy to take a look at it so off it goes on Friday.
  2. I will try and see if the pin is protruding too much. How would I know if it is dragging? When the gun the fired the pin stays forward as far as I can see. I did look at this, the pin is set to the 'softer' longer cutout in the firing pin. Still seems to give a fair old whack to the primers though.
  3. I recently bought a greener gp in good condition from a local gun shop. After taking it out a few times I have noticed that it seems to pierce the primer on every cartridge I put thought it, I have disassembled the action and looked at the firing pin at full travel and it does not seem to be excessively protruding, although the main/hammer spring itself is very strong. Does anyine have any experience of this and possible remedies or do I just take it back to the gun shop under its 3 month warranty? Is this something they can likely fix? I don't want to take it back and kick up a fuss when it may just be something greeners are renowned for. Just for information I have tried the gun with a number of different cartridges all within the proof and chamber limits, its not that I'm trying to shoot something over these. Cheers James
  4. I'm in Pontefract mate in West Yorkshire
  5. I have 4 boxes of 9mm RWS Cartridges available. £10 per box or have the whole lot for £35 Pickup only with certificate
  6. That looks quite smart I like the look of that. I think I will end up going with something like this as the tweed doesn't really appeal.
  7. I was considering a baseball cap but I don't want any particularly in your face or colourful. Having a quick flick through the Basc mag they do a waxed cotton baseball cap that looks decent.
  8. Evening all. This may be the most dull question ever asked on PW so please bear with me: So last weekend I was unfortunate enough to take my first ever bit of clay to the head in my 4 years since starting, not exactly the worst pain in the world but it got me thinking. it seems a fair few people down at my usual ground wear various caps and hats, most of which seem to be there lessen the blow of any stray bits of clay they may encounter. With this in mind I was wondering what you all wore if anything, and any suggestions? Thanks James
  9. I have 7, 70mm Winchester fired hulls free to a good home if picking up, or just pay postage. For all you crafty types, yes they do have the Winchester head stamp and ¾ of an inch of brass to play with. Thought someone would want them to make cufflinks or something out of them, saves them going in the bin if someone wants them.
  10. On the lookout for a side by side hammer 410 with 3 inch chambers. Would love an El Chimbo or the like if anyone has one for sale.
  11. Ah there we go! I have found quite a number of these on various sites; i wonder if they started marking them as Parkemy after a certain point as there seems to be a fair few more of them?
  12. Thanks for the replies. The more I hear about them the more I want one. Problem is no one seems to be selling! Is anything a bit more available comparable as it seems all I can find are old Belgium guns chambered in 2 and a half. I would prefer 3 inch.
  13. Looking for information/experiences about el chimbo 410 hammer guns, specifically in side by side configuration. I'm told these are one of the few 3 inch magnum hammer side by sides you can get hold of, anyone have/had one are they any good?
  14. Looking for a cheap and cheerful .410 cleaning kit as I have bought a new gun, anyone got one laying around not in use?
  15. So I managed to test this a bit more today. I was able to shoot a full box of Lyalvale without any problems, but on shooting around 10 Eleys in fairly quick succession the cartridges started to stick in the chamber, the final one needing a flick out with my penknife to even get it out (normally I can just run the bolt over them again.) So it seems I need to stay away from Eleys in this specific gun, looking at all the suggestions Fiocchi are next on my list to try but none of my local gun shops stock them, unless anyone knows any west Yorkshire shops that have them in at all? Lyalvale are not too bad but are only 16 gram in 3 inch cartridges which feels a little under loaded.
  16. What are everyone's preferred .410 cartridges for having a play on clays and also knocking over rats around buildings? Currently all I can seem to get hold of are eley 3 inch subs or normals in 6s but these seem to be causing a right mess in my chamber and every now and then not extracting due to getting stuck in all the gunk they leave. The gun is a norica 3 shot bolt action (definitely chambered for 3s) and I have checked the extractor and all is well.
  17. That sounds like great fun i have to wander around and try and catch one in the food stores or in around the outsides of the barn, they never seem to bait. Looks brilliant does that I doubt (after having a quick google) that I will find one on a section two licence though. I have a feeling if I see this Norica tomorrow I will likely buy it, it may be a case of finding a use/place for it after the fact.
  18. I have always been tempted by a multishot 410 and sometimes I can get hung up single loading the 9mm noricas seem like the go to with regards multishot 410s
  19. Are there any realistic ways to downn load carriages so that the 410 won't cause damage. I could always keep both but cabinet space is getting a little tight.
  20. The roofs are corrugated steel so I may be in luck if I keep the cartridges down to 2 inches. Unfortunately the gun is in a shop so I’m not really able to test fired cartridges in it, although I do have snap caps I can run through the gun to make sure the magazine is working well and extractor claw is at least keeping hold of something. Were you able to fix yours?
  21. I currently have a 9mm Garden gun I use for shooting indoor roosting pigeons and rats in and around buildings, I have recently been offered a Norcia 3 shot .410 that I’m very temped to swap out for my 9mm. How would a .410 do in the situation I’m using it for? I already have a detectable moderator that a use on my 9mm but would it be significantly louder as I don’t want to cause any upset to livestock? Also I’m aware I can use just use 2 inch cartridges but would these do any damage to buildings? Cheers James.
  22. I recently bought a used Baikal under and over, as with almost all Baikal’s the stock is rather short and I’m in the market for attaching a larger recoil pad to extend the length of pull. I have a fairly cheap bisley slip on recoil pad but it does not seem to fit the gun very well and hangs oddly, (do I need to remove the existing plastic butt pad first?) or is it worth getting a ‘proper’ pad fitted, how much would this be and what are good options to go for? Cheers, James
  23. I generally use my 9mm for shooting rats in and around farm buildings and every now and then I will get a runner using the 10 shot. So I just wanted to try some bigger shot size and see if It made any difference. Like you say i will have to keep am eye on the pattern thought due to the such small weights I'm dealing with.
  24. Anyone got any 9mm garden gun cartridges going? Anything larger than 10 shot if possible.
