  1. Hi guys, Guy from a near by permission came to say hello to me today whilst I was shooting, he's a nice guy and I'm always happy to see a friendly face. I shoot a Franchi and he commented that the extended chokes were really worth it. I shoot a full choke in my top barrel for high birds, and a half choke on the bottom for those low over the pattern. I should have asked the guy at the time but what benefit do extended chokes have over a tight choke? I think he said he shoots a 1/4 and a 1/2 choke but the extended ones. Hope that makes sense. SITM
  2. Well I managed to make it out again yesterday afternoon, and although the flight line had moved about 1/2 a mile to another field I managed a better 26 over a couple of hours. I know these are small numbers in comparison to some but to be honest the hassle of dealing with more than this sort of number for me isn't worth it so I was pretty happy. I have to say that they were decoying to mud?! No shoots and nothing on the surface from drilling, but they still kept coming. My impression is that they are on some sort of migration (long or short I don't know) but there haven't been any birds around my perm area for about two months until the last couple of days, and there is no food source for them on the local area at the moment. Other than the beech mast.
  3. Morning all!! For those patient souls who like me have been checking their permissions awaiting the return of our feathered quarry to Norfolk...... I found a good number (flight lining) over and into young rape yesterday evening near Besthorpe. Set up with 6 FUD decoys and sat in the margins for a couple of hours. Picked 16, some of the best fun I've had in a while. Lets hope there's more on the way. Regards Stuckinthemud
  4. Sorry, I should have said that I wouldn't cover the cost of taking the effort to sell them. I'm not worried about covering the cost of my hobbie.
  5. Morning All. I started shooting pigeons at the end of last year, and although I've had plenty of fun, and enjoyed getting out in the country side I have only just started to shoot numbers that are difficult for me to handle on my own. Shot 53 over rape a couple of days ago. On top of that I had been giving some to a pub that has now said they don't need any more as they have been taken off the menu for seasonal reasons. I just contacted a game dealer who said they offer only 25p per frozen and 30p per fresh bird. I really do want to make use of the birds (for moral reasons, and I hate waste) but at this price I wouldn't cover my costs. Especially as I would have to go and buy a chest freezer to store them in until I'd collected enough to make the journey to the game dealer worth it, the cost of which would take a long time to recuperate. I live just west of Norwich, does anyone know of somewhere that offers a better price, or have any ideas? Cheers Stuckinthemud
