  1. Cheers Charley. Do you have anything to compare it to with regards to build quality etc.
  2. Hi guys, just looking for some advice on the MTC taipan series from people who own or have used them in low light night shooting conditions. Looking to upgrade my .22LR scope and the reviews seem almost to go to be true for a sub 300 scope. I do like the long zoom and reticle options the MTC's come with. Are their any other scopes in this price range that are comparable. I use a Bushnell Elite series on my .243 and a Simmons on my .22LR just now but find the Simmons struggles with light gathering at full zoom x12 when looking at heavy under growth when rabbit hunting. Cheers Kev.
  3. Thanks BB but I am looking for a more high power zoom say a minimum of x20. Looks a nice scope though. Its a bloody minefield out there as far as scopes. There are at least 5 or 6 that fits the bill such as Leupold 6.5-20x50 30 mm LRT VX-111 Target BUSHNELL 6-24x50mSF E4200 30mm MATTE MilDot w/SHADE Zeiss 6.5-20x50 Conquest SF Matte Z-plex Reticle Telescopic Sight (This one is a good bit out of my price range but I know wil be a very good scope) and a few cheaper options such as the nighteater series. Anybody use any of the above for night shooting.
  4. Hi guys and gals. Looking for some advice on a new scope for my .243 Tikka T3. I currently use a bushnell elite 3200 5-15 x 50 and find it ok. However I would like a bit more power say 6-24 x 50/56 and a bit better lens quality for night shooting. I like the scope and will keep my bushnell as a backup as I can't really fault it over the past 18 months. My dilema is that even though I keep looking at various scopes I have no idea whats good out there. I have a budget of around 500-550 and would push that out to 600 if that gets me the next level up so to speak. I would appreciate any suggestions or advice guys. Cheers Kev.
  5. Fire a couple of factory loads down it, give it a good clean with cleaning patches and a cleaner fluid. Repeat 4 or 5 times then using a new bore brush (phosfer bronze) give it a good clean again to get rid of any stubborn deposits down the bore. Check all bolts/screws are tight. Now fire another half dozen down it and get your zero dialled in as the rifle should be settling in by now. Clean thoroughly again and your good to go in my book. Then maintain by giving a good clean with patches etc every half dozen shots/ full day out.
  6. Once I get the scope in my hands and see what duty charges I am hit with and extra courier charges then I will put up a price. I reckon £300 delivered insured for £500 and £285 ish if someone meets me within an hour of me Ayr in Scotland. If the costs are high I will not sell at a loss obviously and I think those prices are fair as Euroguns are offering the 5-15x40 for £440 and have seen others around the £400 mark in the past 15mins of searching.
  7. Hi guys I have ordered a scope (5-15x50mm AO) from the states through a mate which should arrive tomorrow. However I have a chance of another scope new at a heavily discounted price and will look to sell on the bushnell. I think they cost around the £300 mark here. I will be open to sensible offers. Have no idea how to do the sale except for ebay or meet in person if anyone is interested. As I say it will be brand new. Sorry this should be in the for sale section. Newbie alert
  8. My local dealer is a laporte dealer. http://www.pro-shooting.co.uk/ He is up in Scotland though.
  9. Cheers for the welcome guys!
  10. Just thought I would introduce myself to the PW world. My name is Kevin, 27 years young from Ayrshire in Scotland. I have been FAC certificated now for just about 10 months and loving every minute . Currently have a moderated CZ 452 .22 and shoot a variety of vermin over many different types of ground (I have permission). Getting a Tikka T3 in .243 tomorrow and should be getting a new bushnell elite to go with it . Found the site by chance as I was looking for loading info for the new machine. A lot of good info on here without the idiots like a few other forums I have looked at. Anyway back to browsing! Cheers Kevin
