  1. Thanks for all replies people, had my SGC cabinet inspection yesterday and all good on that side. Tried speaking to practice manager but she's not in till Friday. Woman from GMP said that they will need the form from GP in order to proceed. Given I paid the £100 fee to my GP on 30/01/2017 they should have sorted it by now so guess I'll have wait until I've spoken to the practice manager on Friday to find out what's happening.
  2. No nothing to declare, it's just the standard 3 tick questionnaire that was sent to my GP from Gmp. I will call the practice manager on my break today, can't believe after all the hassle I had over their so called "reasonable fee" they still Fu*ked it up. I guess I will have to see proof that the letter was sent back to GMP as hopefully without it they wouldn't have a leg to stand on. Do you think I should speak to the British medical association about the issue too? I'm not a member of an organisation but may consider after this episode to avoid further problems.
  3. Hello all, I applied for my SGC in Novemberlast year, had a letter from GP saying I need to pay £100 fee for them to fill the medical questionnaire from Gmp. I begrudgingly paid the fee and continued to wait for correspondence from the police. On Friday 31st of March I received alerted from GMP stating that they still haven't received the medical questionnaire from my GP and that it's is going to cast serious doubt on my application. I have a receipt from my GP for paying the fee, should I ask for my money back? Also what other options are there in situations like this? Thanks
  4. Has there ever been any form of protest in response to the conduct of the gp's? If BASC are not doing much in the way of challenging the matter then maybe people should take action themselves.
  5. Exactly, I don't think any GP would listen to any shooting sports association. The home office would need to set the rules. I would be more than happy paying £100 for a sgc if I knew that it would include full cooperation by the GP to fulfil the criteria set out.
  6. Ahh nice to see another clay ground near to me, the closest one to me is worsley clay ground, ive never shot there but they seem friendly too.
  7. Yeah i have heard that also, funnily enough it was the practice manager who said that to me. Her words were "if you have an issue with the fee why not wait 21 days and it will get granted anyway as thats what it says on the form". As its my first application for grant im worried that if i do the above and refuse to pay the fee then it could go against me and my application.
  8. Hi all nice topic, im having trouble with my gp also. I had a phone call from the practice manager saying that they will be charging me £100 for this initial request if i agree. I have advised them that their fee isn't reasonable as the initial police request is only a basic tick questionnaire and as im not a hypochondriac my medical notes are very small. im sure it would take them at 5 minutes max to complete the form But still to this day the gp aren't willing to budge unless i pay their fee. i sent an email to GMP firearms licencing unit on thursday morning to advise them of the situation but im yet to have a reply or phone call. what do i do? My application is for grant by the way.
  9. Hey Gordon, used to do a lot of pigeon shooting and lamping in my teens but looking to get into clay, pigeon and game shooting. A friend i work with has been a sgc holder for some years as he is into beating and training hit black lab.
  10. Hi all, Mathew here, fairly new to shooting so excuse me if i don't know all the lingo etc. Looking forward to learning more and more about this great hobby/sport.
