  1. We have a one legged Robin called Bobbin who rules our garden. He talks to my missus every morning when she feeds him but is a total savage when other Robins appear, he tolerates spuggies, blue tits etc most of the time.

  2. I love watching the chat show with the Bishop of Southwark & Malcolm Muggeridge slating The Life Of Brian as a fourth rate film that'll be forgotten soon! Hah, that worked then!

One of the best films ever made, it still makes me laugh & I'm delighted to say my 12 year old daughter loves it too, she even makes her friends watch it when the come round.

Terry Jones, your legacy is leaving millions of people laughing 'till it hurts, the World is a poorer place without you.

  3. Just wondering what, if anything, those who feed their dogs raw food mix with it i.e. vegetables, biscuits? Our 3 Springers seem happy on raw and when we have kitchen left over veg they have that too but I would like something I can give them on a regular basis.

Does anyone have any experience they could share?

    Thanks all.

  4. Sorry , but I've never met a Gypsy that I would trust.

They are brought up with completely different values to the rest of society.

I know one who's an absolute gent, he doesn't associate with other travellers and always lives on his own or with his sons.

  6. I want as much of my useless carcass to be used for transplants especially my skin for anyone unfortunate enough to need skin grafts (they hurt a lot) What's left can be burned & the ashes scattered round the tree where my dogs are resting.

No funeral & deffo no religious ********, my Mrs has been told to spend the cash on a huge ****up in the pub.

  7. Both, they are different, but you have to know your history before you go or you don't really understand what you are seeing.

This ^ If you don't have any relatives that were there, see if there was anyone local to you with a special story, do some research then go and find the places they were in action. It can otherwise look like a big expanse of fields/woods and a bit meaningless.

  8. Never in the field of human communication has so much gonads been talked about crash helmets by so few to so many.

There are £20 helmets out there that have a higher SHARP rating than helmets costing many hundreds of pounds!

I have a helmet which has an ACU gold sticker, so cleared for racing, has a 4 out of 5 star SHARP rating and delivered cost me £20, inc carriage. It has a higher SHARP safety rating than helmets costing 15 or 20 times as much. My crash helmet was bought new, from an English retailer who has been involved in the sale of motorcycles since 1929 A.D. so they won't be passing off hookie rubbish on the public as they have a heck of a reputation to lose.

I'm interested to know what make/model & where you can buy a new helmet with ACU gold sticker for £20 inc P&P? Please enlighten us.

  9. Unless you've driven one before I would suggest paying a bit more for a driver, I didn't (how difficult could it be after all) and in all the fun of it forgot to measure how deep I was digging. I now have a shed base with about 2 feet of hardcore and a concrete slab that would support a small house

  10. I don't quite agree with your take on history. The French did hold them back, the German army never broke through at Verdun despite it being their principle objective in the war at that time.

Planning for the Somme started in 1915 as soon as the Loos offensive failed, long before the situation at Verdun became critical. . The French also fought at the Somme, their sector was as big as ours, and actually did better than we did. The idea that the purpose of the Somme was to take pressure off the French at Verdun was only written into the history books afterwards as a face saver, and not a very convincing one at that.

When, in 1918, we were on the receiving end of a full on German assault ( the only time we were) we did buckle and were over run almost instantly. It was only the fact that the Germans ran into the old problem of not being able to communicate with and re- supply troops at the front that saved us. The German army made 35 miles into our territory virtually unimpeded then ran out of supplies. Had they not they would have just kept on going.Sorry but

Sorry but we must read different history books.

  11. Actually, if you read up the history of what the French did at Verdun in WW1 to hold back the Germans and what it cost them in losses you would have nothing but respect for them. They literally sacrificed a generation.

Had they not held back the Germans in the way they did, and at such a cost to both sides the British lines would have been over run in days and the war would have been over in weeks

    Massive respect for the French

The cheeses eating surrender monkeys was a comment ascribed to Bart Simpson but was actualllly part of the Bush administration's attempt to play down the French view that the invasion of Iraq was illegal. History has now upheld that view and many hold Bush / Blair as war criminals. An interesting thought for Tony Blair when he wakes up every morning, is this the day I get arrested and taken to the Hague?

That day will come, be ready Tony

I think it's you who needs to research some WW1 history, as for "holding back the Germans" they were coming close to collapse and insisted on a major offensive from the British to relieve the pressure. That offensive was the Somme where 60,000 British & Commonwealth soldiers became casualties on the first day of whom just under 20,000 were killed. There were 750,000 Commonwealth soldiers involved in that battle on day 1, I doubt that they would have been "overrun in days" but granted if the French has collapsed the Western Front would have been a very different place.
